::Glambride & victoriaturner::

Since you both work in Event Planning, what tips would you share with us if you have past experience??

(I'll be nosey and ask...;-)
Since I'm a Destination Bride (Antigua here we come!) with only around 8 people who will be with us. We're having an After Honeymoon Reception a month later with a Cinco De Mayo theme (still in purple/gray with hints of pink/teal) since that's our anniversary for when we had our first date and will be married...any ideas offhand??

    Oh Antigua will be so amazing!  I think the best thing you could possibly do for your After Honeymoon Reception is to incorporate Antigua as best you can so that your guests feel as though they were a part of the wedding even though they couldn't be there...you can use Antigua/Cinco de Mayo to add a fun and playful element to your reception.  edit*  This really goes for all weddings.  It doesn't matter what your budget may be...the weddings that are most remembered are the ones that take care to include the bride and groom's personalities, favorites and family traditions.*

    Some ideas I would suggest are:

     - Use photos from your Antigua trip as part of your table decor.  Maybe black and white photos with some lavendar color saturation.

     - If you're doing a photobooth, bring back a couple inexpensive props from Antigua for guests to pose with

     - Let Cinco de Mayo be reflected in your favors.  One suggestion that always is a hit is Mexican Wedding Cookies as favors.  They are simple to make and look absolutely gorgeous in mason jars with fabric lids and a favor tag attached.  (I'll be using these for my shower favors...also on Cinco de Mayo)

     - Have your guestbook made with your photos from your ceremony so your guests can see what you looked like on your wedding day

     - Run a slideshow of your wedding photos during cocktails or in the escort card area

    I have plenty of thoughts for decor and fun ways to incorporate your theme.  PM me if you want some additonal input!    Hope this gave you some things to consider.

  • The events  I do are more corporate (unfortunately!!) Glambride has come up with some great ideas I cant think of much more off the top of my head but am more than happy to help you look for bits and ideas. If you give me an idea of the things you are looking for I am happy to help in any way I can. I love a bit of personalisation :)
  • That's a lot, thank you!!

    I think the cookie idea is a great one because we've teetered on koozies (found a cute design that has a bride/groom with sombreros on) because we're both quirky, spunky, and fun. Those who know us know we're a little crazy LOL

    We were going to make it fun and at the AHR have pinatas in the garage area (it's a Rec Center on the beach, not a kids rec center but an actual events facility and underneath is a patio/garage area) and signature drinks (margaritas, etc.) and a local restaurant called the TacoBus will most likely cater.

    I really like the Table # idea! I'll have to look for photobooth props from Antigua too. Also, we were going to get video of the wedding, play that after everyone socializes a bit in the beginning and sits down; then do our intro and our first dance after everyone watches the ceremony
