Reception (Edited)

So, I shared with everyone on Sunday that I found my venue. (yay!) I just received the contract and was wondering what everyone is paying for their reception. And.. it complimented our siggy challenge for April haha. The poll includes totals so go off of the amount after taxes and everything is included.

Edit: I should have told everyone that mine is covering everything; 5.5 hours reception, 4 hour open bar, buffet style for 150 people, or devours, chair covers, full length linens, golf cart if we want to travel around the course, and mirror, candles, and fresh flowers as center pieces (that we will use elsewhere since I have centerpieces in mind). I just wanted to make sure I was getting a good deal! =o)) My poll result was 8001-9000.

Re: Reception (Edited)

  • We will use the "was" here.  My Venue "was" going to be my parents winery.  With that said no venue costs.  But with caterers & open bar it was going to be around the $6000 mark and that was just with food & booze (plus tents, tables, chairs, linens etc)

  • We're using a venue off of the beach for our AHR that is very reasonable and we'll be able to have our own alcohol, etc., versus expensive catering

  • Our venue is the most expensive cost for our wedding, but it covers everything including the woman who sets up all the decorations, tables, and she even does centerpieces :-)

Our reception costs $1000 for the rental fee. This includes an outdoor cocktail hour, and use of the barn for the evening. Linens, place settings and brass candleholders with tapers are included.

Food and beverage are per meal/per consumption. Meals will cost $25-$27 each, and then passed apps and cheese table are in addition with a price per person. In total, we expect food to cost $35-40 per person, and alcohol to run between $3000-$4000. With tips and tax, that puts the reception with food and beverages at $15,000.

I was doing the math for rehersal dinner the other day and realized that could climb to $1000 pretty quickly... ahhh!

EDIT: forgot to include the guest count- the numbers are based on 200 people. If we have more, we need to add a tent to the venue, which will cost $2500 more. I really hope that doesn't happen!!

  • We are getting a complete steal on our reception. The owner of the property basially does this for fun and not for the money (and has nothing but AMAZING reviews)

Facility rental from 3PM-11PM for ceremony, cocktail hour/reception: $0

    Valet: $150 for 2 attendents

$65PP and includes: rental of ceremony chairs, all tables, linens, china, stemware, 3 passed apps, cheese display with pairing of wine, salad course and sit down dinner with 3 choices meat choices and sides. Comes to $3400.

Alcohol is being paid for by his parents so I am not even letting that cross my mind!

We'll also pay for table upgrades (i want long tables) and we'll upgrade chairs from the basic white.

And decor/flowers will run us arond $1000 (rest will be all candles)

So, overall, we are looking at around 5k-6k for around 50 people. I think a pretty good deal, esp. for this area where normal rental costs alone are around 2k.
  • We're spending about 7,500K on the reception, including service fees, hor dorves, sit down dinner for 100-120 people. However, we are spending additional money for centerpieces, etc...so I don't think you're getting a bad deal at all...

  • Mine comes to around $8000... this includes everything. Buffet dinner with three entrees, salad & hor dorves for 175 people, mid shelf bar,  set up, clean up, centerpieces, linens, cake cutting & serving, china, stemwear... I think I got a pretty good deal. Best deal I could find for what I wanted.

That is a great deal! I'm getting all of that plus chair covers & bows ($4.25/person ahh) for about $8800 so I do think you have a good deal there. Are they throwing in the cake or do you have to purchase that separately? Good find!!
