hair/make-up...minor issue (long-ish)

I've been in contact with a friend of mine who has agreed to do my hair for the wedding. She's a professional hair stylist and I know she'll do a great job. Well she lives in RI and we are getting married in ME (she's invited to the wedding) and she was going to bring a few girls from the salon she works at to do the BMs hair and also do everyone's make-up.

She told me the other day that she's having a hard time getting people to commit to come to ME, which I completely understand, but now I'm freaking out about finding someone else.

My Mom and FMIL are having another woman, from a local salon, come and do their hair and I called the salon to see if they had another person who could come to do hair too, and maybe 2 ppl to do make-up...well the girl I need to talk to is on vacation until the end of the month.

Should I contact a different local salon to see if they have people available? or just wait until the end of the month when I hear back from the other woman?

As of now, my hair, and my two MOHs will be done by my hairstylist friend. My Mom & FMIL's hair will be done by a local salon person, so that leaves 3 BMs who need their hair done. Then 8 of us that need make-up....I don't know how I feel about waiting another 3 weeks to hear back....but I don't want to ask people at another (possibly rival) salon to send people to do hair/make-up because I'm worried about offending the woman at the local hair salon who has already committed to doing Mom & FMIL's hair.

Any thoughts?

  • I would wait till the end of the month. It will still give you plenty of time to figure things out. If you feel like it's something you need to figure out right away then I would discuss it with your mom and see what she thinks. You can always go to another salon but I feel like that's more to deal with.
  • Could you provide them some kind of financial incentive to go to ME?  Maybe that would help?

I would also wait until the girl you need to talk to comes back.  Perhaps you are worrying for nothing.  :)  Maybe she will say, "Sure! We can handle that."

  • My Mom is FB friends with the girl who works at the salon, so she sent her a message today to check with her about whether or not she has particular people who she normally works with.

If she does, then I can call the salon and book those specific people for that date and she can fill them in the the details when she's back from vacation.

</div><div>That sounds like a good idea.  I would maybe check into a few other places to see their prices/availability, but I wouldn't wait too long - I'd try and have it settled by the end of the month or ASAP because May is prom season and you don't want a bunch of high school girls booking up your sylist(s) =]

  • Honestly, Your bridesmaids are there to support you, unless you have always had some elaborate hair-do idea for them, I would just get the girl to come to do yours and let the bridesmaids do thier own in a simpler style, as nice as it would be to have them all done, if its going add more work to you to try and find someoen else to coorinate its not worth it..the focus is supposed to be on YOU on the day of! They might even be greatful to save some money :)
