Different kind of shower

So I was asked today if I was having a lingere shower today. And I said no because I'm not having one for several reasons. But it got me thinking. Are any of you ladies having one? Why or why not? I'm not because I would most likely not wear half of it. And almost everything fits me differently so it would be difficult to give others my size.

Re: Different kind of shower

  • I did not have one, but I got some at my bridal shower.  And, a few friends gave me some at my bachelorette party.  It is fun to get, makes me excited for the honeymoon!
  • isn't that what a bachelorette party is for? Maybe this is a regional thing ...?
  • I'm not.. I've heard of them, but since the only shower I know is being planned is mostly family, it might get a little awkward :)

I've heard of them, but I've never been to one.  I'm not sure how they work..

  • No, but mainly because people throw you showers, you don't plan them for yourself...and no one is throwing me a lingerie shower.  I've never really heard of a lingerie shower before TK....like PP said, I think traditionally you get those types of gifts at the bachelorette party.

  • Agreed with pp...you have whatever kind of shower someone ELSE offers to throw you, you dont throw your own showers so it really a non-issue unless someone tells you they are thowing you one.
If someone has mentioned they are throwing you a lingere shower and you are uncomfortable with that, ask them to tack it onto the bachlorette party (and so its ONLY people invited to the bacholorette party in the first place), or that you would prefer not to have one.
I think they can be fun, but highly uncomfortable if any of my family or church friends were invited.

I never heard of this until this year, but I would typlically think you do something like this at a b-party. It sounds like it could be fun though!

  • I just got an offer for a lingerie shower today. We usually do them in my family and a certain set of friends. Nothing super scandalous or anything; the guests are, of course, people who know me and my personality pretty well. So, hopefully they don't show up with completely over-the-top stuff I'd never wear! Every one I've ever been to has been a blast!

  • All of my younger friends bought me lingerie at my shower, typically any shower I attend I buy the bride lingerie or a gift card to Victoria Secrets, I received over 15 pieces of lingerie at my shower. In my circle showers are where the bride receives gifts not things for the home...but depends on the person I guess

  • I think lingerie showers sound kinda fun! The only thing is if any of my family members were there it would be awkward, it would really have to be friends only (so, like PPs have said, really just a bachelorette party).

As far as I know I'm just having the one "normal" shower, but yes I am secretly hoping I get at least one cute wedding night outfit out of it!

  • I am assuming that I will have one, because my group of girlfriends usually does one when one of us gets married-- although I am usually the one who plans it.  No one has mentioned anything yet, but I feel like they probably will.

It's a lot of fun... We play games, drink wine & have snacks, and the bride opens gifts. It's a fun girl's night!
