Frenemies?? **Long

Ok...so I need some insight.

One of my firends from high school, who I've stayed friends with since got engaged about a month before I did to a man she'd only known for 4 months. I was really excited for her and she called me the day after it happened to tell me all about it.

Now that I'm engaged too, we barely even speak! I called her once a few months ago and we talked for maybe 20 minutes and we were talking wedding stuff and she was a little put off that I had already found a venue and a photographer and was really on the ball. Anyway...I told her my date and asked when she was thinking about getting married. She paused for a bit and said they hadn't officially picked a date yet but it would probably be spring next year. I didn't think anything of it until recently now that she won't return any of my phone calls!

Her engagement annoucement was in the paper a few weeks ago and it said they plan to wed in April, 2012. Now my dilema is this... We have a fairly large mutual group of friends that live all over the US. I'm sort of thinking that she picked a date before mine so they would come to her wedding since it's first. I can't imagine wanting to travel to the same town twice in a matter of just a few weeks from all over the country, would you?

Part of the reason that I think this is because she won't return any of my texts, phone calls, emails....nothing. I'm really hurt by this and really don't want to believe she would do something like this. I don't know what to do.

Re: Frenemies?? **Long

  • I have the same problem. Same exact thing almost, except she's a local girl too. She was only with her guy for a few months too. She gives me several "reasons" why she has to get married 20 days before me....pretty bs to me, Anywho, I've kinda written her off...but I also stopped talking about ANY wedding details with her. She's copied a LOT of my details... I think girls can just get a bit psycho when it comes to wedding stuff, especially when they're friends and getting married around the same time. Don't know if that helps at all? But maybe it's good to know that someone else is going through this too?
