My FI and I decided to have our ceremony at my church and then have the reception somewhere else. We found a place we really like, and we can afford it, but I was worrying about us being able to reserve it soon. We're in the process of finding another house to rent, which means we have to pay the security deposit, which is usually one month's rent, plus our first month's rent. Of course we're trying to get our venues and everything reserved too so we'll get the date we want. I was just really stressing out about being able to do everything. The reception place is $1185 total, with a $500 deposit to reserve it. I found out today that a friend that's helping me plan the wedding was talking to a mutal friend that lives in the neighborhood where we're having the reception (it's a neighborhood clubhouse) and if we book the clubhouse through her, it's only $450 total! I knew it was cheaper to go through a resident, but I had no idea it would be THAT much cheaper! I'm sorry this is kinda random and long winded, but I'm just SO excited about it!
