We're capping the number of guests at our wedding at 150, which means after we invite family and friends, our parents have about 30 invites each to invite whoever they want.
My parents apparently want to invite everyone they know, and are having a really hard time narrowing things down. So my mom thought she would throw us a party and invite all the people she would not be able to invite to the wedding. I thought this was a great idea because she would now be able to do all the stuff she wants for the wedding that I don't and get it all out of her system (she wants very formal/ elegant/ garden party where we want rustic/ organic/ vintagey fun).
Now she has realized that guests for engagement parties are generally also invited to the wedding, so she's at a loss as to what to do.
How can she throw this party without any faux pas?
