Reception Facilities for a Bride with a budget - Help me!

Hello Everyone

I am a Knottie rookie.  I was just proposed to in October.  As you know even though our wedding won't be until 2011, I am on a wedding planning frenzie.  My groom and I are getting stressed out over reception sites.  I would LOVE to have my dream wedding that will probably cost more than i make in one year, but that's not reality lol.  I am looking for recpetion sites in the Pittsburgh area where I can get the most I possibly can all under $6,500.  I did the budgeter on the knot and it says with our budget, that is how much we can afford on a recpetion site.  Can anyone give me any ideas on beautiful reception areas for under $6,500?

Thanks
Jess

how many people and where in pgh? you might want to check the outskirts of pgh-anything in town ranges $65 and up. but it depends on how many people you want to invite.

keep in mind that the budgeter is a guide. you can spend more or less in other areas. you may want to skip a videographer, or do your own flowers or find a more affordable photography package.

Hello, and congrats on your engagement! I had a fairly low-budget wedding- reception was at Gateway Hall in Monroeville. I know a firehall doesn't appeal to most people, but with some nice decor, it worked out great. I second pp's suggestion about looking outside of the city. Good luck!

    Hi and congrats!!

We had our reception at the Edgewood Club. The fee for rental is $1500 and you bring in your own caterer, bar, and decorations. It is such a pretty space. It can fit around 140 people. Just an idea.  :)

Yes, we need to know how many people that $6500 budget encompasses.

I had my reception at Salvatore's in the South Hills and loved it.  they had a very comprehensive package (the price they quoted me on day one included alcohol, tax and gratuity--and was the exact price I paid).  They are one of the few places that I when I compared their "banquet" offerings to their "wedding" offerings, the price was actually cheaper and I got more extras out of them.

I also liked the James Center in the West End (which is BYOB).  I can't remember what else I looked at!!  AHHH!

We had a 5k wedding, so it's for sure possible :)

We had our reception at the Parkview Hall in Sharpsburg, but my first choice would have been Norht Park Lodge or the Boathouse (both are part of North Park). Anyhow, Parkview was BYOB and the caterer was both excellent and reasonable.

Do you want to do a full meal? How many people? If you do a lunchtime event, your cost will be less.

I would recommend a park pavilion, BYOB, and the like.

What are of town are you looking into?

Late to this, but we used the Ballroom at St. Pamphilus and we really loved it! It is BYOB, and the catering is reasonably priced!

It was in Beechview/South Hills. What area of town are you looking in?

thank you to everyone for the wonderful ideas!!  We are inviting 150 guests so I am guessing maybe 120 will show up.  As far as the locations goes, we are very flexible.  We are willing to go 2 hours out of the city of pittsburgh in any direction lol.

I just booked at a place called the Mayernik Center at Avonworth Community Park. It is a gorgeous wood interior. While you have to choose  from one of their four approved caterers, they offer a wide range of choices.
