Re: * Accountability post - join in!

  • I ran Week 1 Day 2 of the Couch-to-5K program yesterday, and I made it through the whole thing again.  I'm running on the treadmill, but I have the incline set to 1.5...luckily I don't have the option to set it any lower, that's the lowest our model will go! lol  I'm not the biggest fan of running, but cardio is the only way to trim down my midsection.  I'm hoping I can move my running outside as the weather warms up.

I find that eating healthier is SO much harder than it sounds!  I've been making small changes (making sure I eat something for breakfast, adding less sugar to my coffee, drinking more water), so hopefully I will continue to make small adjustments. I think the biggest problem for me is that I'm lazy when it comes to cooking, and it's so much easier to grab something that requires little effort to prepare...and most of the time it's stuff that's not so good for me.  Anyone else have this problem?  How did you fix it?

Congrats! even though I love running I hate races (running for me is less enjoyable when i HAVE to run that amount, not just choose to depending on my energy level). and btw, i would die if itw as 90. as my mom always said, Norweigans aren't made for hot weather :)

as for the question of how to fix being lazy about cooking, maybe just make sure you don't buy junk food at the grocery store so it isn't readily available? that is what I have to do since I can't control myself around chocolate. Also, if you want to pick something up for dinner, maybe try places that are more healthy, like panera or something, or go for healthier options at normal restaurants (chipotle is starting to have a brown rice option, for example).

    Today:
    B: shakology shake
S: mini-can of tuna and balsamic
L: the mixx health nut salad with salmon

    To Do:
    D: TBD
    W/O: insanity

  • Yay for Gabby joining!

To combat easy healthy meals I buy lots of frozen chicken and morning star veggie snacks and prepack them the night before. I make these boca wraps with spinach and feta on whole wheat tortilla's thats quick.

  • Kat - That sounds delish!  Would you mind sharing the recipe? :)
  • Weekend: went to Boston to visit 2 BMs. Ate relatively healthy and did more walking around than I usually do! I did indulge after my boudoir shoot and stop at Wendy's.

    Today
    B: fiberone bar, coffee
    L: taco salad
    To Do
D: TBD - have to go grocery shopping after work

Gabby - I try to prep things before I put them in the freezer; chop veggies, put meat in marinade etc. I also usually only cook a couple nights a week but make big portions so we have plenty of leftovers. I also look for "quick" recipes which usually helps.

Sure! (it's too easy to mess up;)

    1 Morning star/Boca burger
    Whole wheat tortilla
    feta cheese to taste
    1/2 cup baby spinach

lay the boca/veggie burger flat with spinach and then feta on top. Microwave for 1 minute (from thawed, not frozen while in lunchbox) then roll up and eat!
