* Tues 5/3 Accountability

Newbies: We do these posts to hold one another accountable for diet and fitness especially leading up to the big day!

Good Morning May-Ladies!

Last night I did the Fit Test (kicking butt every 2 weeks and getting more reps in!) and the hour of Insanity Max Cardio Interval...at one point I was so beat I went to rest and banged my knee on the floor = nice bruise today lol

Today:
B - 1/2 bran muffin + Chobani black cherry
L - whole wheat lunchmeat sammich
Snacks - applesauce , fruit cup, protein post workout
D - TACO TUESDAY!
W/O - Insanity Max Plyo Circuit (lord help me!)

Before/After for those who are curious about Insanity & why accountability is so important to me...it works!

  • Morning girls :)  I need to post my accountability everyday!  I totally slacked this weekend.  Went to a ballgame and F'd up my weekend!

    B: banana & strawberries
    S: Turkey & chese
    L: Salad w/ grilled chicken
    S: Carrots & Hummus
    D: Salmon, brown rice, broccoli
    DD: WW ice cream

    E: 30 day shred

Kat - How crazy are the insanity workouts?  I'm such a wimp, I finished Power90 a few weeks ago and that program kicked my butt.  I honestly don't think I could do P90x even.  I'd like to eventually work up to it, but I can hardly do push ups, I have to do them girl style.  I dont think I could do a pull up if my life depended on it!

Amber - Have you tried the C25K program?  It sounds like you're more advanced, so you can start in one of the later weeks, but I've done it a few times and really loved the results.  I wasn't able to run half a mile even before and by the end was able to run a 5k + with no problem.

I'm not even gonna lie, it's HARD AS NAILS!

I wussed out in the beginning and just took a ton of breaks, but the plus is that the people on the video even take breaks.
The different is that it's more sports conditioning and plyometric cardio than weights/yoga, etc. You don't need any equipment at all either

Yeah thats what I figured, haha.  I don't want to commit to something that I know I'm not capable of doing.  I committed to Power90, finished it.  I've been teetering on the P90X, but again, am seriously phobic of starting something I can't do.  Did you do P90X first?  Or go straight to insanity?  Its a different guy, right?  Not Tony?  How long are the workouts?  I'd love to find something thats at most 40min, time is tight and I know I can commit to at least 40min in the afternoon after work.

I want to do a 5k so bad this year, but haven't found any in my area.  There was one on April 9th, but that was the day of my friends wedding, which didn't work out.  Did you find a site that showed you 5k's in your area or did you already know about this one?

  • I found a site online that had a list of marathons and 5k's its called http://www.runningintheusa.com ... We just had the music city marathon last weekend I wouldn't mind trying to do the half marathon next spring.... Now only if I could get FI to do with me lol... The 5k I am thinking about running is called Change for Chance... It pretty much helps all the families in middle Tn that are struggling. I really want to do a breast cancer 5k too... I think I may have found my new addiction lol...

  • I've been bad so far today in that I had to pick up my breakfast and lunch but I did try to make healthier choices.
B: egg & 1 slice of cheese on whole wheat
L: chicken & broccoli on rice (wanted brown rice but they didn't have it!)
D: hopefully a salad to compensate, maybe a yogurt!
    W/O: hour walk

Has anyone heard of the "Flexitarian" diet? I guess it's like part time vegetarian-ism, because you can still eat meat. The diet just helps you incorporate more fruits, veggies & beans into your diet, which saves money on food and helps you lose weight. I randomly saw something on it yesterday and might try it.

I did try P90x but the guy is annoying (to me lol) and it required too much litlte equipment. I like Insanity because I just need my shoes and me. The workouts are 35-41 minutes the first month and in the month I'm in now (2nd) they're an hour or longer. I only did it to give myself a push over my plateau (where i was in my before pics) and it helped. Once I'm done with the 60 days I'll just go back to running a couple of times a week, weight train once a week and then Insanity twice a week.

@Amber - Good for you girl! Running is a great way to workout the entire body. I was a couch potato and now an avid 5ker (anything longer and I'm bored.) My only advise (even if you don't want it ;) is to take it slow and steady; your legs will catch up to the distance. The plan you noted (adding a little bit each week) is best. Also, to prevent injury keep your hips neutral and tucked a tad forward, don't stuck your butt out. Do heel/ball/toe and mostly land on your ball for balanced landing.
