This weekend FI and I had plans to interview and choose our photographer and attend a bridal show for the heck of it, and to see what florists are in the area. We found the perfect photographer on Saturday, and went to the show on Sunday. On the way out there was a designer sample sale, and I figured, what the heck, I'll pop the dress cherry and try a few on! The sale had gone on all morning and it was the afternoon, so there were about 60 gowns left. I grabbed 3 that were lacey, and headed into the dressing area with my MoH. The second one I tried on fit perfectly and was beautiful- Maggie Sottero Libby, netting with lace applique over a champagne satin A-line gown. The lace has sequins and beading on it (which were not on my list of must-haves) and is banded in tiers. I tried on two more, and thought, I can't get my gown today- it was the first time I tried any on, and I have two appointments later this week at other places. When I went to try on the last gown, I couldn't let go of the Maggie. I put away the others, and thought, if I can't let this one go, I have to try it again. I put it on again and I fell in love. It was not a style I had looked at or even considered- it's a strapless, and I was set on a high neck or mandarin style neck. It's champagne and I wanted white or cream. It laces up in the back and I wanted buttons or a sash. But it's perfect. I decided to let FI see me in it to confirm that it was the right choice, and he felt the same way I did. If I put it back, it would be the one that got away. So I bought it! An impulse buy at a sweet $200!!!
I read a post last week about someone who got a designer gown for $100 at a consignment shop and I got jealous, thinking, how do some people have the luck, but then it happened to me! So be open minded and your perfect gown might come to you!
