May 2012 Weddings

getting lots done!

Hey ladies!  Even though our wedding isn't until May 25, 2012, I am getting a lot checked off my list.  I am so excited because getting all of this done now means i won't procrastinate (like I usually do) and stress out!!!  Whew!  it is a good feeling.  Anyways, my next task is planning out our honeymoon--anyone have any ideas.  we are thinking Hawaii, but not 100% set on this.  Let me know what ya'll think.  Happy planning and congrats to all of you!

  • FI and I are planning ours too. We thought we wanted Sandals Grande Antigua, but now we are really leaning towards Majestic Elegance in the Dominican Republic!

  • Awesome on getting stuff done!  I look at it this way, if I get a lot of my planning out of the way:  A)I won't be super stressed about that stuff close to my wedding day  B) I have way more time to work on the small details that are really going to make my wedding amazing!!

Personally for a honeymoon, I would say go to an all inclusive resort they are amazing and they are the only way FI and I vacation when in the Caribbean.  I've never been to Hawaii though, FI and I never really had the urge to go, because it is so expensive to fly there, a year or two ago the flights to Hawaii from VA were around $1000-$1500 a person for coach, I can't imagine what they are now!

I'm probably going to go to Jamaica, if not Jamaica then we will go to Tahiti (and here I am talking about expensive flights to Hawaii lol)

  • We are definitely going to the Caribbean to an all inclusive resort for our HM, just not sure which island yet :)

I think having a longer engagement is better, you have more time to plan, plus you are an engaged couple for a while. I like being engaged and I think it's an important step in a relationship.

That is so true!  I come from a military family and my fiance is in the military...everyone around here elopes at 18 three days after they get engaged and then do a vow renewal a year later.  I'm 21 and in the military world, I'm an old woman!  I should be married with two kids by now!

    Long engagements are best! =]

  • I agree. It gives you more time to make sure things are the way you want them.

I agree with everyone else- longer engagements are the way to go! It's way less stress and you have a better chance of getting the vendors and wedding you want since you have so long to plan  :)

FI and I are doing a Caribbean cruise with stops in the Bahamas, St. Marteen, and St. Thomas.

We also considered Hawaii and St. Lucia.  Let us know what you decide!  :)

  • justanotherbride - this is where we are looking to go!  do you have the details planned already?
  • No, this is acutally FI's job. He is supposed to plan the honeymoon.. I think I might have my boss' travel agent give him a call though :)
