Enlighten me.

I haven't been around long enough to be a reg, but I'm not a newb either. But someone please tell me the story of GBCK - or the mass exodus that I keep hearing about. What happened, who left, why did they leave, why did they/you come back?

Get your marshmallows, it's story time!

Lucy went nuts. got Edie to ban a bunch of people, Edie refused to own up to it, TK was having texh issues, and the rules got restrictive. The regs that left were mostly from E and SB, not here so much.

Oooh, this is really interesting. Years ago, I was lurker on the SB boards. Now that I'm engaged, I wanted to get my snarky on but noticed that the forum was pretty much dead. That explains a lot!

The exodus consisted mostly of posters from E and SB, and happened in the aftermath of Ban-Gate, when you couldn't even talk about your favorite shots from your photog because they banned every word that started with S and ended with T.

Not many people that left have come back. I just poke my head in here every once in awhile to see if there's anything that catches my attention and to say hi to Linger and Stage.

I'd just started actually planning my wedding when it all went down (and was starting to lurk/post more). It was... interesting(?) to watch as a newb.

I didn't know about the lawyer husband part. That's just dumb. If I went to my husband whining about someone being mean, he'd be like 'uh... sorry?' To start arbitrarily threatening people with litigation goes against the ethics he swore to. He takes that stuff seriously.
I'd also like to point out the picture comment that started it all was something to the effect of "Why is your dog wearing your H's underwear on it's head in your sig pic? No one wants to see your H's underwear. It's gross."
    Posted by LingerLonger1
Yup. And it was gross. It was tighty whities on the poor dogs head, in a basket of (dirty?) laundry. Ewww!

Ok, so I missed that part (or my knot memory is failing me, dammit.)

Does it make me a bad person that I find it deeply amusing the entire thing started over underwear?

omg am I a disgusting person because I find it hilarious that my dog tries to steal my panties all the time? He's not picky about clean or dirty. He just knows that is one item I will chase him down for. He's such a pig.
In Response to Re: Enlighten me. : No. It would only be disgusting if you posted pictures of your dog wearing your panties on its head and when someone complained you refused to take it down because it's so sweet and reminds your of your H (who is probably sitting next to you the entire time you're posting). My cat has been known to steal *ahem* toys from the bedroom while company is over and drag them into whatever room we're sitting in. Now THAT is gross hilarious and completely embarrassing all at once.
    Posted by LingerLonger1
Sorry Linger, I can't help but laugh at this! And people say cats have no personality... they know darn well what they are doing!

FI couldn't understand why I insisted that he set up the TV in the guest room for the nephews to play video games on Easter! No children in the master bedroom, too many places to snoop.
