Really out of town wedding

My son and his fiance are planning their wedding in Queenstown, New Zeland six days before Christmas.  They are living in Australia on temporary assignment. Each of their siblings are unable to attend because of family obligations and cost.  It is a 17 hour flight from where we families live in Los Angeles.  The more we parents point out the difficult logistics the more determined the couble become in their plan.  Any thoughts?

If you're not paying for it then you don't get a saw in their wedding plans.  You can choose to make the trip or to stay home.  Neither is right or wrong.
