Best companies for bridesmaid dresses?

I found the perfect bridemaid dresses for my girls on a site called "Yes My Bride.com", and all the girls even loved the dress. Since it's an online company, I decided to order a "trial dress" because it's only $99. Something made me search for online reviews of the company before ordering. After reading many horror stories, I decided to go with my better judgement and not even order one dress. Now, I'm back to square one with the search. Does anyone have recommendations of bridesmaid dress companies they've had success with, yet are still reasonably priced? Thanks!

When all else fails and you want matching dresses for a reasonable price, use David's Bridal.

    Otherwise Alfred Angelo, Watters, JCrew
  • Thanks for your input! There are so many options out there it makes my head spin. I'm surprised I found my wedding dress as easy as I did!
  • You could just pick a color and length and let your BMs pick their own dress that is flattering on each of them. They will be happier and less head spinning for you.
  • I'd check out Jim Hjelm, Bill Levkoff, and Bari Jay. These are all quality brands that have many, many options in each color. They are easily found in bridal boutiques. These are great options whether you want matching bridesmaids or everyone to select their own dress style in the same color.
  • There are also a couple of online vendors that save you money on the above.  Netbride and Pearlsplace to mention.
  • Thanks, ladies! All very helpful!
  • I'm a huge fan of www.dessy.com

They have dresses in plus sizes, a huge selection, and have a catalogue available in almost every single bridal shop I've ever visited.

My bridesmaids were scattered all over the country, so ordered color swatches from Dessy for them, and told them to get a dress in that color in X length.

It worked out beauitfully, and took SO much stress out of the equation.

  • I second Pele.  Dessy also offers you the ability to do pantone color swatches, which is very helpful if you want to match the dresses to a certain flower or vase or table linens or picture frames or whatever.

Plussizebridal.com offers (most? all?) Dessy designs in custom sizes, including plus custom sizes.  That was another consideration for me, as my sister is a 28/30 and many designers/websites don't cater to this size lady.  As long as the three female attendants in our wedding get properly measured, this enables them to order a dress that will not need alterations, and to order it based on their busy schedules - late at night - online (two out of three women are doctors and have NO TIME :) )

As far as that goes, Plussizebridal.com also has designs by many other companies and I have not seen any bad reviews about this company, nor Dessy, specifically.

  • I bought this dress for my sister to wear at my wedding. Its just like the picture shows and fits her perfectly. ..

My sister is wearing a black bra in the photo, however the dress stays up and offers enough support without the bra because there is an internal bra already. We were tossing up between a size 10 and 12, got a 10 and its a perfect fit.
