What do you think of this dress for a Bali wedding?

I wanted to add some balinese culture to my Bali cliff top oceanview wedding. So I thought of having the bridesmaids wear traditional balinese hand made Batik Silk Sarongs..

What do you guys think? I am worried it looks too casual for a wedding! Please help!

  • For a casual wedding, and dressed up with strappy sandles and a jeweled necklace, it would be appropriate. Are you sure your BM are comfortable wearing them? They tend to show a lot of skin.

  • I think as long as you are having a more casual wedding, it'll look good. Just make sure your BMs are comfortable with them. I think paired with some strappy sandals and jewelry, it'll look really nice.
  • as youre standing its fine. but could you imagine dancing and being a BM and being terrrrified of it unwrapping? maybe they can wear balinese style jewelery with a dress thats more traditional/ meant for a wedding ? http://www.evesaddiction.com/category_610__Bali_Jewelry.html

[QUOTE]The look is casual, but if the reception is casual then it is fine. However, that dress is not going to be flattering on most body types. You are tall and thin and can wear it, but I know it would make me look shorter and pregnant, and I would feel miserable wearing and being photographed in it.

    This.

You need to consider the shapes of your BMs and also if they would be comfortable in such a dress.

  • Thanks everyone. My bridesmaids all love the material and the style... they're all fairly young (early 20s) and in good shape... so they're all good with it. I was just concerned it wouldnt fit the rather formal rest of the wedding style.

<div>Is there a way you could add a strap or sleeve? I'm not sure if that fits with the traditional Bali look or not, but it could make it look more formal. Or perhaps for the ceremony they have some sort of shawl that would still look soft but slightly more dressed up. Then, if your reception is more informal they could ditch them. Like I said, not sure how that all fits into the Bali look, but might spark an idea!</div><div>

  • Definitely run this by your bridesmaids before you make the final decision. Not only might the shape not be flattering on all your BMs, the color might look certain skin tones look washed out as well. I'm sure your BMs would appreciate you asking their opinion

  • Agree, csweaney!

Also add some jewelry, as someone else had said...Maybe a headband, a necklace? Looks a bit plain by itself to me. But that's just my opinion.
