Can I AW my dress... and ask a few questions?

So I just got my dress (custom made by a seamstress), and I LOVE IT.

But there's one big issue... the dress itself actually has a plain strapless sweetheart top.  I'm wearing a lace button-back bolero over it for the ceremony and at least part of the reception.

The dress fits in the abdomen part really tight, but literally just the boob part just flops down like crazy.  So much so that I didn't show you guys a picture of the dress without the lace top because it just would've been vulgar, haha.

It's weird because in some way, I feel like the top is too loose; but at the same time, I feel like my boobs are too big and falling out.  The lace top helps to hold them in place a little (so they're not drooping too much in the photo), but without the lace top, it's ridiculous.

So here's my 1st question:  Will adding little spaghetti straps hold them up?  The top has a lot of structure, and even has an internal elastic bra clasp, but the boobs are still just flopping down.  I actually like the look of little spaghetti straps, but not sure if it's really going to solve the problem.

2nd question:  I've decided I only want to wear my engagement ring and earrings.  Any suggestions for earrings?

3rd question:  I'm considering a simple satin sash.  I thought it might help to break up the two laces (the top and the skirt), and to visually cinch my waist a bit.  Something simple, like ivory or maybe even a light blush to match my shoes.  Thoughts?

Thanks for all the help!

2nd question:  I've decided I only want to wear my engagement ring and earrings.  Any suggestions for earrings? I tend to have a style different from much others - but something dangly and maybe a littke sparkly!  I have found lots of cute earrrings on ETSY that aren't super expensive.

I like the sash idea.  I think it would look nice with the dress how you are wearing it in the pic - as well as with spaghetti straps.  I say go for it!

  • Thanks!

I am thinking dangly earrings would be nice.  A little sparkly... but not too crazy.  Etsy is a good idea!

  • I can't help with the boob issue (I'm quite flat-chested and know nothing about sewing), but I think a sash would look lovely. With all the lace and ruffles on the dress, I would go with simple pearl drop earrings, maybe something like this: http://www.youpearl.com/shell-pearl-jewelry/shell-pearl-earring/wholesale-white-south-sea-shell-pearl-teardrop-sterling-silver-earrings-p-367.html

[QUOTE]Beautiful dress! Now, to solve the problem of runaway tatas: strapless long line bra, one band size smaller than your normal bra size. It needs to have Serious, No Fooling Around, Ain't Taking Crap from gravity boning in it. Then, when wearing the long line bra, have your seamstress make any adjustments necessary to keep the bodice of the dress in place.

I might have to do this, but I was hoping not to have to wear a bra since there's already cups and boning in the dress (that apparently just isn't working or doesn't fit right).  I'll ask a seamstress her advice, but you may be right.  I may need to just suck it up and get a good bra to hoist the puppies up!

Also... @ kipnus... those are pretty!  I do like a nice pearl earring.

  • Your dress is so pretty! It's so unique and looks so joyful.

I pretty much have zero bosom, but I second getting a really study strapless bra and possibly getting more boning in the dress. Adding straps might take away from the look of the dress.
