Wedding Woes

It's not April if it doesn't flood

Our downtown is a flat mess..  It happens every year.  We don't live anywhere near it, but I have work errands to run on the other side of the river this morning.

My parents live 90 min away and even they are experiencing flooding.  The school is closed for a flood day today.  I have never heard of a flood day in that district.

I heard Chicago is in bad shape.

We have a high of 84 today and a low of 36 tomorrow.  I shaved just in case I need to bust out shorts.

That sucks :( I'm sorry. Hey, at least it's not in your house, right?
  • March and April make me miss Southern California
  • Blech.  The creeks here are starting to flood.  Nothing like 2008, but not fun either.  And considering my work is contingent on weather, the guys are getting restless.  :(

  • There's a damn sinkhole in Chicago.  ::shudder::

Our neighborhood doesn't flood, but some of the streets that border us do.  Blerg.  I'm so over the rain.

Our neighborhood doesn't flood, but a couple streets that border it do.   And it's supposed to drop 30 degrees over night.  Ugh.
  • Friend in Chicago just posted this:

  • Chicago IS in bad shape.  I had to drive through standing water, had a couple detours to get the train station.  Ass clenching terror right there.

The sky opened up while I was next to the Sears (Willis) Tower and there is nowhere to hide next to that building.  My pants are drenched.  My shoes and socks are drenched.  I may go buy new pants at Target during lunch because my building doesn't have electric hand dryers.  It's not been a good day.

A lot of expressways are just closed down.  So are schools- our school district is.  No trains are running on time.   Standing water just everywhere.  The rivers are all about to let loose.  I've never seen so much debris in the Chicago River before.

Luckily, we don't have a basement and nothing has flooded in our house.  Not all of my friends have been so lucky.

  • We have a lot of flooding around us but so far we are bone dry.  Crossing fingers and toes....

The place we are having DS's open house in June is underwater right now.  It's the fairgrounds and they are right on the river and flood a couple of times a year.  The river JUST started to recede from a flood stage of 21.7 feet and we are getting pummelled again.  It should crest again Monday or Tuesday.  Some towns downriver are expecting record flooding.
