Wedding Woes

Here we go again

How was the weekend?

Pretty good here.  Costco, yard work, church, and the funniest baseball practice ever.  It was worth the cost just to see 4 kids chasing after 1 ball laughing hysterically while they did it.  The coach seems really nice and one of the moms confirmed he is incredibly patient.  He's going to need it.

The two on the left are dancing, the one on the right had to be coaxed out there,  and the one with the glove (6let) is jumping when nobody is even batting.

Speaking of patience, I'm going to need it today.  Max was up twice last night and M2 was up at 5:55.  MIL gets here at 10.

Re: Here we go again

  • Weekend was OK.  DH and I were kind of cranky with one another, so that sucked.

My mom and I went up north to pick up a cabinet she ordered on Saturday.   We shopped this little Amish town and found some fun stuff.  I found at least 4 pieces of furniture that I need to have in my next house.  I also need a lot more money than I have now, LOL.  DH had a work thing, so he dropped the kids at my parents.  We had dinner with them.

Yesterday, we brewed a cream ale.  Other than that we were just outside most of the day with the kids.

DH is going hunting this week.  Blerg.   I guess it won't be much different as he's been working crazy hours and at least I get the whole bed to myself.

Friday I worked--which sucks to work extra but is one of my favorite events.
This event, we moved from Feb/March because last year we got snowed out.  This year?  the auditorium flooded because of the April showers.  The math gods hate us.  We pulled it off anyhow

Saturday we did a lot of nothing and cleaned the house.

Yesterday after church, we took the kiddo to 'lamb fest' at a local farm.  It took a lot of effort to convince her the lambs weren't scary (eventually we resorted to reminding her she is a baby jaguar who 'rawrs' at things that scared her.  So we were the parents carrying around a toddler who was 'rawr'-ing at baby lambs.

I'm also a facebook weirdo.  I commented on what I thought was a friend's photo.  Turns out it was HER friend's pic.  So now I'm the random weirdo that comments on friend of friend's pics.
  • Saturday I took the girls to a birthday party for my niece while DH stayed home to get Son to and from baseball practice.

Sunday we re-set the bricks around one of our trees and mulched around the hosta stubs.  It's going to look really good once those hostas get bigger.  I hate the edger bricks, but we don't want to spend a lot of money on new stuff right now.

We'll have to buy something for the flowerbed along the front of the house because right now it's the scalloped bricks and I hate those even more than the edgers.  They have to go.

Anyway, 2 trees mulched, one to go.  And the flowerbed.
  • The weekend was kinda weird.  I didn't do much Saturday.

I left at noon on Friday, met my parents (retired now) for lunch, bought 4 bras at TJ Maxx, then sat at home.  Saturday, normal stuff, lunch with a friend.  Did all my chores before H got home.

Then Sunday H worked 12-8 am, I had a race at 7am, so we passed in transit...and he slept until 3:15.  My race was "good-ish", I had to re-tie my one shoe 4 times (I think) because my dang foot was numb.  I think I lost about 2-3 minutes, but I was still okay with my time.  Especially given the ridiculous 15-20mph winds and hills (~8 good ones).

I spent most of Sunday hunkered down being quiet because H was sleeping.  It was kind of nice.  H is on 12-8am M-Th this week.  Then off F-Su.

  • Friday night I worked late after getting a call for a potential patient 10 mins before I was to leave.  It was a good thing and I'll get to flex an hour off today or tomorrow.

Saturday, DH worked the day shift and was to be done at 3:30 PM.  Due to some asshattery from his coworker, we were pretty sure he'd be working late.  I started some spring cleaning/rearranging in our bedroom.  At 3:30 he called and said he was on his way home.  I quickly showered and we went out for a date night.  Had a delish meal at a historical place not far from here.  It was nice.

Yesterday was church and a quick Sam's stop.  I spent the whole afternoon on the bedroom and H made chili.  It was in the 50's so we opened up all the windows and aired out the place.  The bedroom is now ready for the new bed that will be delivered today.  I can't wait.  Our old mattress was getting so uncomfortable.

  • Saturday I had a blissful day with no husband or child. Imoan looks adorable pregnant and her shower was lovely.

Sunday H and I basically ignored each other. I was tired and super grumpy and in no mood for bs.

DD has been throwing up a lot lately and it's g-tube related but also related to (I think) the horrible congestion and snorting she has going on. As a result my sleep has been for shyte. Was up at 4am on Friday morning. Didn't sleep again until 12:30am on SATURDAY. Saturday night went to bed at 12:30am, was woken at 3am by DD, got puked all over, had to shower and then try to fall back to sleep. This morning she woke me at 445am and we've both been up since. If H dealt with any of the vomit stuff I'd be cleaning up both of them.

    ^ I feel his pain.

If H is home, I cannot do it at all.

But if I am on my own, I somehow find a way to manage it.  I don't know how my stomach steels itself in those situations.

But as soon as H is home, my gag reflex is in full force.

    ***TMI alert***

I mean last time DefConn was sick and puked, I caught it in my hand and didn't flinch or gag.
  • I have a call into the pediatrician. I think the puking has to do with her being super congested and snorting. She seems to gag after she snorts so I think her snot is gagging her. It's nasty.
  • Poor 'Lil Dixie.  That has to be horrible and poor you too.

We were too danged busy this weekend.  Friday night was the BBQ festival thing.  It was alright, after we hit satiation point, it was a bit uncomfortable actually.  Saturday we spent a chunk of the afternoon w/my parents, which was nice b/c I haven't seen them for awhile.  Then we had the tutu-making party, which went too danged late, b/c making tutus is time consuming.  Got up and rode 16 miles on Sunday and it took it OUT of me.  I'm still somewhat recovering today.  It was also allergy central, so I'm a bit miserable with my ears, nose, throat and eyes today.
  • Poor little Dixie :(

Saturday, DH went to a miniature con, so I worked on cleaning out both the office and guest room to combine the two rooms, shredded a lot of crap- still more needs to be shredded still.  It was boring.

Sunday, we went to Ikea and bought a bunch of storage crap and baby stuff, then bought a ton of clothes at Carter's (DH cut me off before I got completely through the store), and went grocery shopping.  Came home and watched some TV.

i don't know what we did to get some good karma going, but we had a great weekend - all because the kid slept until 8am 2 days in a row. even today, he slept until 715am, and he was put to bed at 8pm still awake and not completely tired.

i think whatever we are doing is working. mostly, i credit the weather being nicer because we've been able to take him outside and really get him running and breathing the fresh air.

this is going to be a long week because i have no planned days off, but having had a good weekend made up for it. we got lots of shopping done, and even managed to buy a bunch of gifts for the kids for almost all the birthdays coming up and even christmas because of a blowout sale we fell upon.

lastly, 6, i think the weirdo is the person leaving their photos open to comments from everyone.

sorry about the puking, dixie. at least you're handling it (well)? this, too, shall pass. that's not the most constructive or helpful advice, but at least it's true.

    Poor Dixie house.

V- I want some good ribs now.  Hmmmmm wonder where I could get those.

Zilla- I need that karma.  We were doing really well at 630 then today was back to 555.  I do think this weather is a big help.

At least the picture was just of some sprouting vegetables.  I just asked where to sign up for leftovers.

Saturday was the preschool bake sale outside of Lowe's. My shift started at 11. I got there at 10:50, and ALL of the other parents who were there were all "I have to leave now." So yeah. I was there ALONE for 3 hours, manning the bake sale tables. And who ended up with all of the crap afterward? ME. I have 2 tables that belong to the school, 2 signs that belong to the school, a tablecloth and fancy rachel ray food storage container that belongs to another mom, and enough leftovers to feed the entire fire department. Seriously? I did not sign up for that. I was supposed to show up for 2 hours, smile, take money, and go home. Lesson learned.

Also? I neglected to wear sunblock and got a mild but annoying sunburn. I am not used to having my neck exposed with this short haircut.

I was proud of myself for being reasonably outgoing. I smiled, said "hi" to people, reminded a few that mulching is much more fun with a few chocolate chip cookies in your tummy. It was freaky. Stark opposite to last week when I was at Panera having to ask people to participate in my study. Weird.

Sunday was supposed to be a big day at the Y. We finally joined last week, and I'm trying to get there as often as we can. We got there just before 1. The boys went to the playroom while H and I did our respective workouts. Swimming lessons were supposed to start at 2:15. I got the boys out and changed their clothes, etc. We were waiting for things to start when they came out and said something had broken overnight and the chlorine level had been dropping all day and was now too low to safely swim. I was kindof annoyed, mostly because I'd been talking up the swimming lessons all week. I NEVER talk about stuff ahead of time to try to avoid unnecessary disappointment, but boy had I talked this up. They were bummed at first but got over it.

Dex ended up having a major meltdown later in the afternoon. I still don't know what that was about. H was moody all weekend, too - highly unusual for him.

Anyway, now it's time to start the week again. H has his stupid class again tonight. I am SO ready for this semester to be over.

  • This weekend was pretty good. My morning sickness seems to be getting better which is nice. Friday night was relaxing. On Saturday morning I got up with DS and took him to the zoo. My mom came with, and DS had a blast. We were there till about 2 pm and DS was starting to get crabby so we called it a day. Came home and relaxed, got DS cleaned up. He didn't end up taking a nap so it was an early bed time for him. Slept in on Sunday and worked on chores. My house is still a mess but I'm feeling better so I'm doing little bits here and there. I also made dinner three nights in a row- a pretty big deal because usually by 5 pm I'm a mess.

DG- My mom told me long ago not to volunteer for a last shift because 90% of the time you will end up on clean up as well.  I have taken that to heart and only pick that shift if I'm also signing up for cleanup.
  • I love the pic.
