Wedding Woes

Amazing things out of tragedy

There is a blog I follow, a special needs mom and her family. Their oldest son, the one with special needs, passed away over the weekend. He had been fine one day, the next had a seizure and went into 3 cardiac arrests. After 4 days, he was finally pronounced brain dead. He was 5 and a half. They decided to donate his organs and continue his legacy of defying odds and being pretty much a super hero.

This family is doing several "in lieu of flowers." One is to do a good deed for someone, anyone, and document it. Post it on the blog's FB page so that the family knows that their son's legacy of good is being paid forward.

The developers of an app to help the non-verbal communicate have taken this request very seriously. They offered free versions of their $200 app to families who might benefit from it. The only condition is that you post on the blog's FB page.

I wrote to them and told them about DD. I received an email containing a code for the app. Tonight, DD will be the proud owner of a speech app that will hopefully help her communicate her needs in the very near future. We're still working on signing and developing verbal communication but this might be very helpful to her.

I'm heartbroken for this family but so touched by the outpouring of love that has come from this little boy's death. And I fully intend to pay it forward.
