Wedding Woes

Dog people

MIL is having to put her dog down tomorrow.  She loved this dog and I'd like to do something for her- card? flowers?  Anything else you can think of?  They've had this dog 12 years and I know this is going to be tough on both her and sFIL.

Re: Dog people

  • A card would be nice.  Really, just having people acknowledge that it's a real loss and not "just a dog" is nice.

a card is nice, flowers would be nice, too. it's very difficult to lose a pet. even though many people think it's just an animal (which is true for the most part), it's probably one of the more difficult losses to go through.
  • I agree with the card and Zsa's sentiment.

Thanks for the input.  A card ill go in the mail today and I'll order flowers when they open.
  • I might be 'too late', but I was lurking around.

I told another Knottie a few weeks ago that when I worked at the vets office, when we had euths' we got a clay 'handprint' kit from Hobby Lobby/Michaels/craft store and the vet made a paw print that you could take home and bake. Every single person that we gave them to was so appreciative. Maybe this is an option? Call vet and ask, and then swing by and bring one to vets office if they give the okay.

I know that feel. Sorry about the loss :/

  • Pretty much what zsa said.  It's nice to recognize that it's a painful loss.  Most vets I've been to have sent a card when we lost a dog or cat and I appreciated it.

The pawprint would have been nice, but logistically impossible.  I sent her a text that I was thinking of them, have a card in the mail, and she should be getting a planter at any moment.  I asked them for something they could plant outside later with some fresh flowers for color now.  This may actually be harder than when her dad passed.
