Wedding Woes

Wedding band blues at Jared's

This is more of a rant than a queston....
So, me and FI went and purchased our wedding bands two days ago and i got a beautiful diamond band. The sales people are cool, we had a good experience shopping for my engagement ring and the wedding bands. never any problem. when i had my engagement ring sized it literally took them two hours to size it. well with my wedding band they were like come back the next day at 7pm. i was like damn, but ok you know. so we did come back and they tried to give me the band and it was still half a size too small and they hadnt even sized it. im like seriously?! the lady was like oh yeah i guess it didnt get sized they were busy. then she just kind of walked off and stopped helping us. it was very strange.so we left. she told us itd be done today. so I just called to see if it was done yet (the store is 30mins away) and the same stupid lady was like "listen, we are REALLY busy today. Probably wont be done until 5. im like uh ok well can you call me when its done? and she was like ok sure then *click* hung up. REALLY???? good thing i called because i would have been pissed had we drived 30 mins again for no reason. Im sure the bands will turn out fine, but it irritates me how they are super nice when they want your money but once you need their services they treat you crappy. grrr.

  • I'd complain to the manager or to someone at corporate.  There is no reason for them to treat you like that.

  • Why are you buying a new band that isn't in your size to begin with?  You're paying for a new product, they should be ordering it in the proper size if they don't have it on hand.  Finally, this is the kind of service you should expect from chain stores.  You'll get much better service from a local, independant jeweler.

I bought mine new from a showroom too.  It's not that uncommon.  It's the wrong size, but they included sizing in the price.  FI's ring was different.  They had a fake version in-store, and his needed to be special ordered, which was done in the proper size.  I'd also like to add that we went though a small, family-owned business, and they have excellent customer service.  I agree, that customer service is variable when you're dealing with chains.  It's unfortunate.

OP, I'm sorry you've had to deal with that.  The best you can really do is speak to a manager about your experience.  I have no doubt that the ring should be ready soon, but for them to keep giving you unrealistic deadlines is unfair to you.  Congrats on picking your ring, though!  That's so exciting!  Let us know how it turns out!
