Wedding Woes

Good Work Moment

I'm managing what is the biggest project of my career so far.  The expenses are sitting within $11K of breaking a million and if what I have planned for it works out, it will be right at $1.1 million.

This case is, of course, with Diva.  We've gotten along pretty well on it.  I had to complete a huge project of basically pulling together all of these expenses, from 3 different sources of paperwork, that did not match facts 85% of the time.  Wednesday I was pratically having heart palpations over the damn thing b/c a 3rd party not only had held up completion, but then didn't even send me the correct materials I requested.  When I gave Diva the final product, I was incredibly anxious.

Diva just called me into his office, asked me to change some headings and then praised it profusely.  I had also e-mailed him personally re: this house situation this morning and asked him to call me with what he needed for Monday (this project is related to an important meeting on Monday) and I would come in over the weekend to get it ready if I didnt' get in today.  He e-mailed me back that he really appreciated the e-mail and found it very professional.

Whew.  And Yay!

ditto, AF, especially because he's not been a Diva with you at all from what you said.
  • Well, I try not to badmouth my co-workers on their actual job.  That crap always comes back to haunt you, it's not really my business and as long as it doesn't interfere with what i need to do, I don't really care.  I will say that I had to share files sometimes with his former paralegal and I did not like doing so for a lot of reasons.

I actually think I might be making some enemies over the fact that he and I seem to be getting along.  *shrug*  I'll take my boss liking my work over my co-workers liking me most days.
  • Also, thank you for the nice words.  I've had a rough few weeks, y'all made me smile.  I appreciate it lots.

it might be less of your coworkers being idiots, and more of that you know your job well and can interpret his needs better. in any case, good for you.
