Wedding Woes

This is lame

My kids get up early.  I let them watch some tv while I do whatever.  They changed the programming on the normal channel and it's all "let's get up and move and save the planet."  The one show is all about "sports candy."

1. I don't need a TV SHOW preaching about exercise.
2. There is nothing wrong with candy being candy and vegetables and fruit being vegetables and fruit.
3. I don't really need yogurt cups turned into some crappy art project.  Just let me recycle them.

It annoyed me so much I've banned the channel.  I was ready to throw things at the tv every morning.

Re: This is lame

  • Wow.   You would get along really well with my DH.   Are you a libertarian?  He rants all the time about the brainwashing that the kids shows do about excercise, eating veggies, recycling, etc.
I'm all like "meh" - I'm just happy to have a few moments to myself while DD's watching tv.
  • Flo, everyone's a libertarian. They just don't know it yet.

I would have banned that, too. Shows like that do a lot of "good food/bad food" and sometimes implied, sometimes outright fat shaming. We don't do that in this house.

I almost banned Nickelodeon after watching it with Bacon for a bit, but after talking with her, she thinks all the stripper fairy shows are dumb and is just waiting for more Spongebob. When he's not on, she switches to Science Channel. I can handle that.

It just gets really preachy every morning.  I don't like the good food/bad food either.  Some things just taste good and that's ok.  I hate fruit and that's ok too.
  • I have absolutely no doubt in my mind at all that I am not and will never be a libertarian.  I do know their party platform and beliefs and I want about as much to do with them as I do Reagan Republicans.

    Psst...It was a joke, V! <div>
</div><div>Also, it was "small l", not "big L" libertarian. I don't consider myself so much of a "big L",but that's because I'm off into anarchist territory lately. I'm pretty sure you have a few things in common with us little l's. ;) </div>

  • *shrug* you find it funny, I don't.  I don't think it's funny when people smirk satisfied to themselves that they're right, I'm just too stupid to know it yet.
  • OK, you're in a mood. I would never call you stupid.
