Wedding Woes

Good grief

How was the weekend?

He had a nice day at my niece's First Communion.  Yesterday was rainy so we went to Cabela's (overrated) and Steak and Shake (terrible) then putzed around.  DH did fix the ceiling fan and the picture frame that cause WW3.  I ordered a bunch of stuff for the baptism and DH's birthday.

Max was up at 330.  M2 woke up at 410 and she's been going between sad whimpers and screech crying ever since.  I have no clue what the problem is.  I have a headache and don't know if I can take it all day.  I wanted to hit Party City, Kroger, and Lowe's, but not with her like this.

Friday, DH came home (YAY!) and brought me home a new Coach (?!) purse (double YAY!).  He also brought home shoes for the kiddo.  He stopped at the outlet mall that way on his way home.  He's pretty awesome.  (Funny; he was all, "I have surprises for you two!" and I'm all, "What the fck could he have found in the woods that I would want."  LOL)

We went and collected river water for the kiddo's science experiment and then went out to dinner.  When we got home, DH and the kiddo worked on science fair stuff.

Saturday, DH and the kiddo took the water samples to DH's work for plating (DH's micobiologist on staff came in and helped them).  They then went to the drag race track because DH's uncle was racing.

DefConn woke up with a gross cough.  :(  But he was in a good mood.  So we went shopping.   After DH got home, I went and got a pedi.

Sunday, we bottled beer (a Scottish Ale) and moved our cream ale to the second fermentation.  I went a friend's get together and then went to A's mom's house for a small gathering because A's bday was yesterday.

DefConn's got a cold, but it's not slowing him down.  I just hate hearing his cough.
  • Saturday evening was a lot of fun. The two co-workers/friends who were at this wedding with me helped make it such an awesome night. One of them even got H out on the dance floor. We danced so much that my feet are still swollen and my hip hurts. We got home at 2am.

I spent all day yesterday with my mom and DD. We walked all over the freakin' city. My old lady hip is NOT happy today. But it was a nice day and my mom got some good time with me and the kiddo.

Today DD and I get to go back to the GI. The bumper on her tube is way too tight and it's hurting her. Plus they need to treat her granulation tissue again.

Good news is that we've had 3 consecutive days of no vomit. The bad news is that Saturday night I forgot to tape her med-port so Sunday morning we still had the net effect of a puke session. But at least she was a smiley girl instead of a shrieking harpy.

    Glad things are less pukey.

Is the knot showing an odd number of posts for anyone else?  It's showing more in this one and the fruit salad one.
  • I've noticed that TK has been buggy. Like if someone responds in a post, I have to wait until it's  2 minutes since the posting before I can read it.

lack of puke is always a plus.

Friday the kiddo and I went to story-time at one of the yuppie libraries.  She's shy around other kids, and I need to make more of an effort to work on that.
After lots of errands and such, kiddo spent the night w/ BigSis

Saturday I did my own thing most of the AM--after blissfully sleeping in.  Then I high-tailed it to volunteer at Sci. event.  I started w/ a headache which got worse after hours of pouring over scores and double checking numbers.  I called the Mr. to say I was on my way home and I went from "ow, my head hurts" to "OMG, I'm probably not safe to drive" in the 20 min it took me to get home.  So I took good meds and just went to bed.

The Mr. let me sleep off the migraine hangover; we spent yesterday working in the yard (Buffy played in puddles and made a giant mess of herself :) and doing some nothing.
  • Friday I was in a terrible terrible mood, so I sat on the couch and finished Hemlock Grove by myself.

Saturday was the 5K.  I was in a terrible mood anyway, the race was basically a Greek week event, it was raining and the course was HORRIBLE (it basically wound it's way through the major university campus).  When we ended up on grass, I basically yelled, "I HATE THIS" and flounced me and my tutu covered butt back to the finish line, cutting through campus.  My group followed me, agreeing.  It was basically a diaster.

Went to a friend's house for tabletop game night and enjoyed that.  I have a Civilization addiction.

Sunday was supposed to be our 18 mile bike ride.  DH annoyed the heck out of me (we had to have the conversation again re: answer the question I ASK, not the question you want to answer or think you hear) and I just did not have the physicalness to do it.  We hit mile 5 and turned around.  I spent the rest of the day curled up on the couch with a wine spritzer and watched some TV.  Sidenote:  I'm really enjoying Grimm this season.
  • Dixie-no puking is great.  Sounds like you had a fun weekend.
6-I hope m2 feels better, that is frustrating because of the lack of verbalization of whatever is going on.

V-sucks that your race didn't go well, and even more annoying that it wasn't anything you could control.

Weekend was kind of strange.  Friday was quiet, I took H out to dinner, we ran a few errands.  Then back home.

Saturday H was working at uncle's house a bit, I left without seeing him to say goodbye---and Dad and I made our way out of town.  Had dinner at cheesecake factory (salads are even good there (probably bad for you)), and got our race packets.  In bed by 8:30 and asleep by 10:00.

Up Sunday for another race.  It was warm out, and the race course was kind of okay.  Being a race snob, I was annoyed with things other people probably don't care about.  And the hills at mile 11 and 12 can suck my nuts.  THE END.

H left for training---14 weeks of not seeing him M-F.  I already miss him.

  • O-face, it was just really annoying b/c this was the same group I ran the Color Run with and we had soooooo much fun.  Color Run just seemed far more organized and much better atmosphere.  Color Me Rad did not have those things.

There were 10K people @ Color Run, I think there were probably only about 3K in Rad.

First, Rad nickeled and dimed us.  They wanted you to wear a white shirt, like the Color Run did.  But the race shirt?  Was blue or black (they also misordered sizes and run out of all of the women's sizes except XS).  But they conveniently had white shirts for you to buy! Then, they didn't give you any color packets until the end and they only allowed you to take one.  And by allowing, I mean one of our group members had his hand slapped by the volunteer when he reached into the box and had grabbed two (not even really meaning to).  Wha?!  That's the whole danged point!

Color Run color stations were something like 100 feet long with lots and lots of volunteers spraying you with color from bottles and cheering you on.  Rad's color stations were maybe 15 feet long, with maybe 7-10 volunteers holding boxes and throwing handfuls of color on you.

And the route was terrible.  It snaked through campus, meaning you doubled back on some runs and we were running on sidewalk most of the time, instead of asphalt.  Jarring as all heck.

Add to all of this that Rad was more expensive than Color Run and I was very peeved.

I wasn't feeling it anyway (I had a really bad period I think) and it was all just annoying the fark out of me.  By the time we had to run on grass (my minimalist shoes are just netting over the sole and it was raining...so now I was running on wet feet), I was so pissy it was ridiculous.  Varuna was NOT a good sportswoman that day!  :)

That place is terrible!!! The chicken is always soggy.
  • So who else was banned?
  • Saturday- woke up late, then took another nap, then went to a fundraiser dinner for the ALS walk I'm participating in.  The event was really nice, then hung out with my friend until 12:30am because I had to pick up DH from the train station since he did the Rave Run 5k that night.

Sunday- slept in until 11am, then watched some TV and went to register and run a couple of errands.  Then promptly fell back asleep.

Basically, I slept a lot.  I could sleep some more right about now.

We have an OB appt tonight- I just hope we have enough time to grab some food between the time my train gets in and my appt.

  • Friday night DH worked late so DS and I ate cereal for dinner and were lazy. Saturday was party day and I spent the day cleaning and cooking. DH and I predictably had a fight because that's what happens when we have parties. We got over it and DS had a good time at his birthday party. He loves the stuff he got and everyone just got him small things- which was perfect. He has a ton of toys already and I hate adding to the clutter. Sunday I slept in then we went to FIL's house to celebrate DH's brother's birthday. We were home by 6:30 pm which was good because I was feeling like sh!t. I slept like crap last night so today should be interesting.

DH told me that his younger sister called him and wants to have a "heart to heart" so they are meeting for dinner. DH has been so meh about his family- he's told his mom and dad about the baby and that's it. He really only enjoys hanging out with his younger brothers. I'm interested to see what this conversation is about. DH thinks she's butthurt about him not  saying anything about #2 right away to her.
