MIL was dating this guy for roughly 3 years. They were "engaged" yet never lived together, and he had a strange pre-teen daughter that MIL seemed to find soothing as a project.
And I mean, she set up help, with social workers, counseling, therapy for this daughter.
She found out that early teen/pre-teen daughter was inappropriately messaging a 17 year old guy. She brought it up to her "finance" and he promptly shut her down, yelled at her and they broke up.
Now, all of us as family were not going to hold our breath, but they eventually did shut things off. She's no longer spending time with this man (PRAISE JEEBUS!!!) and they're done.
She is now in grief counseling.
I asked SIL how long her mother would be in mourning. I also suggested a mock burial.
