Wedding Woes

I'm evil b/c my good deeds always go awry

Some befuddled old guy with a Yorkshire accent has been leaving messages on my personal cell about technical assistance and troubleshooting and going by his house to "have a look" since last week, multiple times a day.  At first I just ignored them, because that's usually the end of it, but dude just kept calling.  After getting calls at 9:30, noon, and 4-something today, I called back to tell them that they have the wrong number.  Got possibly his wife--same accent, old lady voice.

I was so nice, and yet she tried to argue with me that they hadn't called me.  Whatever.  I tried to wrap it up, I was like "Just wanted to let you know that if you're trying to reach these people, maybe you can find a different number since this isn't it."  And then she asks ME what number she should be calling.  WTF am I, 411?  I basically called to say quit calling me and filling up my voice mail, crazies, but because I tried to sugar coat it, she missed the point.  Lesson learned.  Every time I decide I'm going to try being nice-ish, it ends badly.  I think it's a sign.

  • I've had the same thing happen.  Except I loved mine and was trey sad when she figured out she was calling the wrong number.  Whoever was calling had this lovely Southern drawl and was talking about church and gospel choir to Sister I-Could-Never-Catch-the-Name.  They wore jean skirts and had potlucks.  Sprint made me change my voicemail message and she figured it out on the next call and apologized.

i had to block a number recently because they just were not understanding that i was a wrong number. you are too nice. i cannot stand wrong numbers. it's one of those unreasonable irritations.
