Some befuddled old guy with a Yorkshire accent has been leaving messages on my personal cell about technical assistance and troubleshooting and going by his house to "have a look" since last week, multiple times a day. At first I just ignored them, because that's usually the end of it, but dude just kept calling. After getting calls at 9:30, noon, and 4-something today, I called back to tell them that they have the wrong number. Got possibly his wife--same accent, old lady voice.
I was so nice, and yet she tried to argue with me that they hadn't called me. Whatever. I tried to wrap it up, I was like "Just wanted to let you know that if you're trying to reach these people, maybe you can find a different number since this isn't it." And then she asks ME what number she should be calling. WTF am I, 411? I basically called to say quit calling me and filling up my voice mail, crazies, but because I tried to sugar coat it, she missed the point. Lesson learned. Every time I decide I'm going to try being nice-ish, it ends badly. I think it's a sign.
