okay, first, remember I waxed estatic about the tomato & basil string cheese?
I stand by that but the crushed black pepper is crap.
It's chunky and doesn't 'pepper' well. If you want 'pepper' stick w/ the jalepeno string cheese.
Books
The Mole people: Life in the Tunnels Beneath New York City-This was a secret satan book and it was just depressing.
Don't recommend. I finished it, looked at the dates and went "sht, I bet everything written about has gotten WORSE, not better, since then".
The writing was 'meh', IMO, which just didn't help. It didn't make these people grab me, it was incredibly disjointed. Youd just get enough information about one person to make you go "oh, I hope this works out for her" when she would switch to a new person and, 30 pages later, say "oh, and Suzy eventually died of an overdose" or whatever.
ROOM-also from secret satan. I kinda reccomend this one.
It's not as depressing as you'd think, for being the story, narrated by a 5 YO, of a mom and kid imprisoned in a 11x11' room by a crazy rapist.
Sometimes the 5 YO was a little to...I guess 'mary sue' is what comes to mind. A little to wunderkind to be real--the words stayed preccocious 5 YO but the thoughts were more abstract and 'old' for age 5. But that was kinda forgivable.
Movie
"Scott Pilgrim Vs. The world"
The Mr. and I both liked this. I had heard 'manic pixie dream girl' criticizms and, honestly, I didn't see it. I saw under-developed female characters and a bit of sterotyping of indie-nerds, but it was equal-opportunity sterotyping.
So not awesome, but worth the watch, IMO...as long as you know it's a rom-com based on a comic-book, going in.
