Wedding Woes

Late Good Morning

Wow, ladies.  Usually I'm one of the last ones on.

I think we're going to a trivia group tonight.  It started out as a MENSA meeting, but I guess no one RSVP'd.  The creator is a member of another one of my groups.  I feel like I'm going to be outclassed.  Come on pop culture questions!

That's pretty funny.  Good luck and I bet you know more than just pop culture.

I haven't had much to say.  We have "Memories with Mom" at preschool today.  I'm kind of excited.  The local park had a preschool program on woodpeckers yesterday.  It was so much fun.  The talked about the birds, did a little game, then we went for a "hike" and looked for them.  We did actually spot one.  Two days of outside play has really helped my mood.

I've already signed up for 2 more classes at the parks and am looking for even more.
  • I feel a bit assy today.  I had drinks with friends last night, and by drinks I mean one LARGE margarita, and one NORMAL sized one.  And I feel gross.  :(  I'm no young whipper-snapper anymore.

I even got up at 3am to chug water and pop advil.  Wahhh.

    White girl problems.

  • I have to find a dress for a black-tie optional wedding. I need to find something that I'll knock H's socks off in and that will hide the fact that 2 years post baby I still look pregnant.

I'm so beyond touched right now. 3 women in my FB mom's group made things for DD's tube. 2 made belts for her (one will work now, the other for when she switches to her button) and one made her a whole box full of special tube pads.

I've been listening to the same 15 songs for the last 3 days.
  • Good morning.

I haven't gotten a text from the sitter yet, so hopefully DefConn's having an OK day at the sitter.  He's been fever free since 5am yesterday and was pretty perked up by the end of the day.  He was a little unsure/clingy this morning.  I need to have a chat with our PCP because his ear infections are getting a little ridiculous.

A friend of mine and her family got selected to be on Family Feud.  I know her and her brother and if the rest of the family is like them, they are going to be awesome and hilarious on the show.

I'm in a funky mood today.  I've been getting unreasonably irritated with DH lately and I'm not sure exactly why.  We need some time alone without the kids or work.  I know that much.
  • It's okay, Dixie. I'm about to go on a Time for Three binge again.  Seriously, next time they're in NYC (I know they've played Carnegie at least once and maybe twice), you HAVE to check them out.  I've never wanted to fangirl and follow a group before, but I'm addicted to their music, both covers and originals.  My 2nd favorte:  http://youtu.be/OnzAWPlM470

You're beautiful, Dixie.  Find a dress that compliments what you like and hides what you don't and stop beating yourself up.

    Your moms group sounds wonderful.

O-face, I know what you're talking about.  DH and I still think we're pros at the drinking.  This just in:  we're not.  1-2 normal drinks is definitely enough.
  • My neighbor brought over a small pitcher of a mixed drink on Saturday when we cooked out.  I had two servings of it, a couple beers, and a glass of wine with my steak and I wanted to die on Sunday.  I never felt drunk at all.  I cannot mix my alcohol.  Getting old sucks.

  • I'm going to have to check out Time for Three.

The mix I've been listening to is the stragest mix. The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, LuLu, Marilyn Manson, a couple of others that I only know single songs for...
  • V: Ohhhh...  good luck at trivia.  That sounds like fun.

6: My SIL runs some of the metro parks programs.  They have some really great ones!

Dixie: Have you heard of www.renttherunway.com?  You can rent designer dresses for $75 - $200.  I  can send you a referrel if you're interested.   <-----not a vendor

  • I'm thinking of skipping most alcohol consumption period.  I just don't think it's worth it at this time.  Yargh.

Dixie, Varuna is right, just go in there with your head held high and you'll look hot.  Yep.

  • I was looking at Rent the Runway. They didn't have anything I was looking for. A friend of mine at work just got something from them.
  • Dixie, was she pleased with it?  I've been curious about taht service as well.  It's one of my rewards for when I get to a specific weight loss.

good luck in the dress search, dixie.

i have had a really busy (read: fun) week so far. i didn't even get any parking tickets or moving violations. to me, that's a good week. now i need to hunker down and really work on not eating out as much as i have been. it's not sweater weather anymore.

also, RPOTD, it seems that workers in retautants (not just fast food) and stores prefer to tell people NO instead of thinking to themselves that they may not understand the language i am speaking, and they should ask someone for help. NO is just easier, I guess? no, you cannot have the thing that you paid for, even though it is on your receipt, because i don't know what you are talking about. NO, you cannot sit at a table and order drinks even though there is only one other person in the restaurant, because I am not exactly sure what it is you want to say to me. NO, i cannot check the price on this for you because it is not in our system, so instead of me asking a manager for assistance, i would rather you put the item back and walk out of this store empty handed.

  • Wzz, if you didn't work so late, I'd insist you come with me tonight.

Varuna, she seems to be. She was just telling me about the dress she got. Sounds FANTASTIC.

i know. it's weird. i dont have a sitter, but i dont care. it's nice to feel like a normal person. i actually made dinner at dinner time last night for the kid.
  • I joined RTR's website, but a sista is going to have to drop a pound or 20 before I can fit one their dresses.

  • My sister does Rent The Runway and loves it. She has a bunch of friends who work from like Microsoft and high end engineering firms so they'll invite her to big parties and she gets a dress from RTR for a night.
  • Thanks ladies, this is good to know.  I've been curious and online they get good reviews, but it helps to have first and second hand knowledge  :)

    Yes, NOLA, like I said, it's a reward for a specific weigh loss.  Mainly a, "I've reached a size _____' reward.  :)
  • There seemed to be a lack of dresses in my size and for the type of event I was looking for.
