oven bacon

Explain this process to me please.  I have a pound of bacon I need to fry for Sunday.

Re: oven bacon

  • Pan + foil.  Oven at 375, 12-16 minutes.

And make sure the foil completely covers the pan (I use a deep cookie sheet/jelly roll pan) so that you can clean up easily.
If you like your bacon to be less greasy/ more crispy, you can put the bacon on a wire rack over top of the foiled lined baking sheet.

  • We use parchment paper to do our bacon in the oven.   I may try foil the next time.

Also, we put ours in for a little long 25-ish minutes.  We like crispier bacon.  :)

I've been wanting to try a "bacon basket."

(but without the embellishment and handle and all that BS - I pretty much just want a bacon bowl.)

Foil is key. If you have a silpat or similar silicone bakeware, that might also be worthwhile.

More and more, I think oven bacon is the best way to go. Stove bacon is a gazillion times more messy and burns so easily by the end of the batch.

  • Ditto everyone else.  I usually pull mine out 2-3 times during the 20 minutes and blot the grease with a paper towel.

I love doing bacon this way.  It frees up my time to make other things and I haven't burned bacon since I started putting it in the oven.  Clean up is a breeze when you use foil.
  • mmmm... oven bacon....

I cook mine, and then take some of the left over pieces and make a killer stuffed chicken breasts...

And I cook it in the bacon grease...

I can't wait til my FBIL fixes our oven...  First thing I'm making. Oven bacon and stuffed chicken breasts...

Bacon is in the oven.  I've been eyeing those bacon baskets too, but it seems like a lot of work.

<div>The weaving probably takes a few minutes, but that's probably the only additional time. Maybe I'll do it this weekend and send a report. :)</div>

Ah, the bacon bowl I saw were little.  She used an upside down muffin tin to make little appetizer.  It seemed genius, but not something to do for the family, but too much work for umpteen people.
  • I got a block on my work computer for the bacon basket link.  Reason:  SEX.

I don't want anything to do with your dirty bacon sex baskets!

So you can knot on your work computer but not look at recipes? Awesome. Your company's filter software needs a little training. Or a lesson in what sex is and where one might find it on the interwebz.

  • This is the only way I make bacon now, and I love it.  Never going back--NEVER.
