So yesterday I had the day off and went to a thing in a town about an hour away with my friend, L. L needed to be home by 2:45 to get her 8 yo daughter, A, off the school bus (the driver isn't supposed to let A go until he sees an adult). Lunch took forever and we were running late, so she started calling friends to see if someone else could get over there in case we didn't make it home in time. No one was answering so she asked if I thought H could do. We call H and he says no problem.
Then L starts to worry that the bus driver has never seen H before and might be suspicious. A knows H and we are over at their house a lot, but wouldn't know to expect him as the person to pick her up. So L calls H and tells him that she thinks it would be better if he went into their house (she told him where to find the key) and just wave to the bus driver from inside.
That's all fine and good for the bus driver, but poor A is going to find the neighbor dude hanging out in her house when neither of her parents are home. I pointed this out to L. She said that A will get over it.
I was dying laughing. Poor A. And poor H. I would not have wanted to be in his shoes. And just to make it more creepy he brought her candy. But it seems to have worked out okay. H said that A just ran past him to turn on the TV anyway. She probably wouldn't have noticed that her mom wasn't there if he hadn't told her. And we got there five minutes later.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.
