    for 6:

    Is 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. too late for a 4 y.o. birthday party? (There will be food.)

    Uh, no

    Hell yes!

The above choices are too complicated for me.
  • Y'all are warming my heart with your validation.  Seriously.

DD wants a pool party again, and it's fine by me.  But since last year, the Y has changed their birthday party policy, and now they are only doing pool parties from 5:00 to 7:00.  Which is fine by me since my kid is a night owl like DH, but I wasn't sure if this was pushing it for a kid with a more typical sleep schedule.

She really wants this pool party, so everyone who voted no just made her day.
  • On a Saturday?  I'd be ok with it.

I'd be annoyed on a weeknight but I'd still let my kid go.

My kids are in bed at 8 and I still don't think it would be too late.

Yeah, I should have mentioned, it will be a Saturday.

I am such a DD birthday beebee.  I'm sort of indifferent to my own birthday, but hers?  ::swoon::  Four words:  DINOSAUR ICE CREAM CAKE.

Right there with you.  I've ben getting up at 530 the last two mornings to work on M2's decoration- her handprint made into a cat.
  • wolverine normally goes to bed at 7/7:30, but we'll sometimes go to dinner / shopping / etc.  different nights so it's NBD if she's up a little later.

I say yes, but by 'yes' I mean we'd probably leave by 6:30/7, and hit the door running.

Because my child turns into a pumpkin.
  • I am always confused by people putting their kids to bed at 8.  When I was a kid, we never went to bed before 11 or so.  My parents didn't like waking up before 7am, and they said if they put us to bed any earlier than 11, we woke up too early, and then would wake them up.  So yeah, I don't think 7 is too late for a party to end.

<div>Really? I'm pretty sure you were in bed before 11 when you were in preschool. My kids are the worst night owls on the board, and they are almost always asleep by 10. Every other parent of preschoolers thinks it's insane. A 3 or 4yo who goes to bed at 11 and wakes up to go to daycare or preschool is going to be a tired monster pretty quick.</div><div>
</div><div>I voted "hell yes," because even my kids start bathtime at 7:30. We'd still go to the party, but we'd be paying for it the next day. Also, lots of 4yos have baby/toddler siblings who are asleep even earlier than that, so I'd just expect a lot of "no" responses from families where there's a younger sibling factor. </div>

    11pm? oh. my. goodness.

what happens when you have to wake up before 7am to get ready for school? no matter how late my kid goes to bed, he wakes up before the sun. i would rather have SOME quiet time than none. i'd never get anything done if he stayed up so late.

Gotta say, moms who let their kid stay up until 11 pm must have ZERO personal time/boundries.

When on earth does a parent, who has kids awake at 11 pm, have any role besides parent?  ya know, mom, woman, person who wants to sew/draw/read/write/havesex?

Really?  You're confused as to why people put their preschoolers to bed before 11pm?
