i know, this isn't the most exciting topics, but i figured i'd bring it up anyway.

i was watching part of that Worst Tattoos show on TLC last night, and some of those tattoos are doozies. i think it's ridiculous that anyone would think a hot dog playing a guitar would make a decent permanent fixture on their body, but that's why she was getting it covered up.

anyway.

one of the guys in the "look at this ridiculous tattoo" segments had a portrait of an angel stabbing itself in the stomach to represent "all good things come to an end", but it looked like a man fondling himself on his forearm.

so, my question, would a horrible tattoo like this make someone less dateable?

Oh yes, for sure.  I would question their judgement.

DH's uncle has a tattoo of the cat from Pepe Le Pew that says "Stinky Pu$$y."  Super klass right there.  Especially on a 75 year old man.

And a bad tattoo is definitely grounds for not dating someone. I love tattoos, but I'm picky about the quality of tattoos.

So not only does he have a gross tat, but he also has the bonus of possibly having hepatitis (or something else equally as fun) that he could share with you.

Yes- what dharma said. And if they were dumb enough to get it in a visible, not easy to cover location you know it's going to impact their ability to get a job. I couldn't date someone who couldn't get a job over a moment of idiocy and a poorly thought out tattoo.

Yes absolutely.  I try to stay in the each to their own camp on well down normally placed tattoos, but I said to DH after watching this show (and he has a tattoo himself) that I have never, ever, looked at someone with a tattoo and thought, wow, that tattoo really makes them look better/more intelligent.   It isn't hard to find something to judge when it comes to body art.

This, exactly. I love well thought out, meaningful tattoos. But my friend whose boyfriend put some stupid ass tattoo on the back of his head? No.

I haven't seen this show, but does it also cover the people that tried to get meaningful tattoos but decided to go to a less-than-reputable place and got something that looked completely different?  Some of those stories are sort of sad . . . but you get what you pay for.
