Pinwheels: Opinions please!

I want opinions on this idea:

I found the seller on etsy (even though I could also diy). What about pinwheels? Have the bridesmaids/flower girls carry large pinwheels? They also have pinwheel bouts for the men to wear. And then I could add pinwheels to the flower centerpieces at the reception. I would porbably still carry flowers with my FI having a flower bout.

I am getting married in September in a church and the reception is in a hotel. Is it too casual? or does it sound cute and fun? Opinions please!

I really like the idea of pinwheels.  (IMO) I do think it may be too casual for a wedding/hotel wedding.

But, I did a quick google search.  These are super cute!

Huh, I had never heard of that before. They're cute, and I think they'd work for a wedding. I know you said you're getting married in a church and having a hotel reception, but how formal is your wedding? Are you having other non-traditional elements? I think if you're having a formal or traditional wedding, these would look out of place. But if you're more modern, then go for it!

Why do you want to do pinwheels? Is it to save money or because you like the look?

If you do it, I think you need to carry some pinwheels in your bouquet and on his bout as well, or it will lack unity and make those that received pinwheels feel like they weren't billed high enough for flowers, IMO.

I think pinwheels can be really cute. I like small ones.

What is your wedding theme? Is it whimisical? I picture it going with whimiscal, spring, childlike, bright colors, etc.

The Pinwheels are def a way save money but I also think they can be cute.  I do like your idea of adding pinwheels into my flowers, kwynn.

We do not really have a theme yet per say, so if I went with the pinwheels, i would probably make that my theme. I would add them to other elements in the wedding like centerpieces, card/escort table and what not.

I just worry it will look to springish for fall?

I really am just throwing around lots of ideas right now trying to see what I like the best.

I think a button bouquet would be better for your wedding.
It sounds as though you are having a semi-formal wedding and I think the pinwheels would look out of place.  (I think they would be fabulous for an outdoor wedding, though!)

Here's a link to button bouquets:

One of the regular posters on the Etiquette boards  - Bec - made the most amazing button bouquets I have ever seen.  She did a ton of DIY projects that were just out of this world.

If I can find her bio, I will post it here.

Hmm, can you post some pictures of what you're thinking?  I need visuals :)

I think it would be easy for this to skew casual/ carnival-like, but that picture Meg posted was very cute.

my suggestion would be to do these for your bridal shower.  I had a very formal wedding style and like traditional things so I'm pretty biased, but I think for a hotel/church wedding they may be a little out of place.  It would make since if you were getting married in Cape Cod in Sept, but I didn't get that from your post.

I'm torn.  I love the colors and the whimsy of those pictures, but the pinwheels also seem like they would be more appropriate for an outdoor wedding.  I'm concerned that they won't match up with what seems like a more formal event.
