NWR: Baby Registry Announcement

I've lurked on the E board long enough to have learned a lot about Etiquette related to weddings. However, I just received an announcement in the mail that has me a bit confused. It is for someone close to us who is expecting a baby in May, yet the card says there will be no time for a shower before the baby arrives, and then lists where they are registered and their address.

My first thought is to be a little offended. You can't host me at a party but you want me to buy you a gift a mail it to your house? BUT, I don't know etiquette for baby related matters. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I'd only send a gift if this was someone very close to me or if they had a really special circumstance i.e. she was out of state for 7 months of her pregnancy with an ill family memberPosted by TXKristanWithout getting into too many details, they live about 15 hours away from ALL family and I think are reluctant to travel because 1 don't like to fly and 2 the frequent stops a pregnant lady would have to make.nbsp; Posted by lauraminn[/QUOTE]

So, basically those cards were just to ask for gifts.
If you have no time to have a shower, that doesn't mean you send out nonvites.

If you're close I think it's fine to send a gift. I'd send one offregistry, to be completely honest. Not for petty reasons, but just to pretend I never received that nonvite.

That does seem rude.... they could easily have the shower post delivery.
  • I would be offended too, but, not that it matters much, who sent the announcement? Was it the mom to be or a friend that is hosting a not shower?
