NOLA Wedding Vendors - Reviews & Reccos

hello!
just married in new orleans last weekend (4/20/13) and wanted to share some contact info from a few of the wonderful people we worked with for our wedding weekend. see below and hope this helps.
and FYI - i planned everything from nyc in 3.5 months - so was very important to have reliable and professional people to work with and make sure everything went smoothly.

sound / lights:
will from bernard production was very professional and set up an AMAZING sound system for us in the courtyard of race & religious. he took the time to do a site check a month or so before the wedding to make sure we ordered the right equipment and he was also able to help suggest great options that worked within my budget. contact: will@bernardproductions.com

photography:
zack smith shot our rehearsal dinner party @ the NOLA Pharmacy Museum - photos were delivered to us via download link within a day and he is incredibly personable and captured some great moments during the evening. here's his contact email: Zack Smith / smitzack@gmail.com and a link to check out his portfolio (he does editorial work as well): http://zacksmithphotography.smugmug.com

elizabeth ray = DELIGHTFUL wedding photographer. she was with me the entire day and really had great suggestions on shoot locations within the venue and remembered everything! really made my day and she has a gorgeous eye - makes things even more magical then they were! here's her website: http://erayphoto.com

FOOD.
Chef Ryan Hughes (currently doing pop-up dinners on Weds @ Purloo).
wow, we did things right - crawfish/low country boil on friday night and a full on LA feast for the wedding on saturday (knock your socks off gumbo). you can find him here on facebook:

also - we had a 3 level king cake  & hot beignets for friday night, def a big hit.

location:
new orleans pharmacy musuem - liz & stephanie @ the pharmacy musuem were very easy going and great to work with. would definitely like to host another event here (was too small for my wedding - but perfect for rehearsal dinner)

race & religious
gorgeous setting and even better that we were able to rent it out for the entire weekend - gave time for a longer set up and also was nice to have my mom/sisters all stay together in one place :)

music:

bagpiper - for the ceremony - dr neil johnson, he lives in alexandria - but definitely worth looking into and booking for your ceremony! very easy going and had a beautiful tone and took the time to play several songs for me over the phone so i could select my ceremony music (since i wasn't able to visit him in LA before the wedding). here is his email if you need to reach him: Neil Johnston - johnston@lacollege.edu

algiers brass band for 2nd lining - on time, great music, good attitudes - very professional ! and definitely a highlight of the wedding

tim laughlin band - clarinet trio that played fantastic jazz music during the friday crawfish boil.

both bands above were booked through mimi white with white oak productions - she handled the communications with the artists - super easy: mimi@whiteoakproductions.com

styling (done in nyc):

white-starr styling - planned out ALL wedding weekend & honeymoon outfts - down to the lingerie. karyn is amazing - http://white-starr.com

wedding dress was found at a gorgeous shop in soho - i wanted something short and fun and this was the right designer to check out:  http://www.morganelefay.com

hair - rocket science in the bywater - great finger waves! i scheduled a "test run" when i arrived on weds and then the same stylist was booked for saturday morning to help with the wedding.

lingerie: JOURNELLE (a few cities) - leah in the soho shop is awesome - helped me find the right pieces for each outfit and also troubleshoot what to wear under a backless / low back wedding dress! you can order from their website as well: http://www.journelle.com
