Hey!! We just booked Succop for August 23, 2013!!!!

When we looked at the venue, the Friday and Saturday Brides were getting everything together (on Thursday) and they used some of the same decorations! What have you been thinking of in terms of decorations, etc?

Re: ***futurekehrs***

  • sorry for the delay! Just moved to New Jersey!

    Awesome! Succop is gorgeous.
We are going for a soft, romantic feel and using bird cages for some of our centerpieces. Havent picked the exact colors yet but  most likely going with green, rose/blush, and champagne. What about you?!
  • Moving? yuck! So you're planning your wedding from afar? Are you orginally from Western, Pa?

We are going (or I guess I am, and he just nods :] ) for the same feel! From the beginning we didn't want a venue where we would have to dress up with over priced flowers and decorations that we would never see again, and Succop is just perfect! I also love the way we can utilize the beautiful house for cocktail hour.

The colors are the same as yours! Soft shades of pinks and greens and maybe some brown. My Grandmother volenteers with the society, so once I put two-and-two together I thought the "love birds" idea for a wedding would fit perfectly with some added bird cages or cute little birds on the invites, etc.

All in all sounds like you and I are thinking on the same lines for our weddings!

We will probably be putting up tulle around the wooden beams on the outside with pops of the colors intertwined.. and my friend who married last year, at a different venue, used lots of those DIY tissue paper flowers, which were stunning. We may group the different colors together around the corners and different beams. As for the centerpieces I really want them simple with candles and some different vases/mason jars with just a few flowers. And hopefully they either leave up all the extra lights outside or upgrade to more earth friendly ones.

For the food, I love the idea of doing the BBQ cookout.. but I haven't had the chance to talk to peter yet in person to iron out the details.

I'm so excited to find another bride who is not only getting married during the same time, but the same venue! We've been engaged for 5 years, and after some financial issues and family health problems, it feels surreal to finally be planning our wedding (and stressful, but I can't wait to throw one heck of a party)!
  • that's cool your grandma volunteers there. my FI proposed using a bird house he made for me so that's where we got the idea.

yes i'm originally from new castle, pa but had been living in pittsburgh for about 8 years before i left. medures catering is actually from new castle, too! we haven't even thought about the menu yet. the whole moving thing put my wedding planning on the back burner. ill prob get back into it soon. thankfully theres still over a year!
  • Yeah, moving is extremely daunting! Especially when it is to somewhere further than hour!

I'll let you know how our tasting goes (which hopefully we can schedule within the next 2 months)..
