What other novels is it like? My queries are not going over well, and I'm pretty sure it's because I don't have anything in my letter about who'd like the book, because I just don't know. 

GayH suggested Elizabeth Kostova (The Historian), and I feel like maybe Gillian Flynn (Dark Places, Gone Girl), just for the similarity of style, but that's all I got, because I don't read literary or women's fiction.

Black was easy: Charlaine Harris, the Anita Blake series, MaryJanice Davidson, anyone who likes twists on classic characters. But that's what I read, so...

I didn't include audience info in my first Black queries, and I noticed I got a lot more requests for pages and a lot fewer form-letter brush-offs once I did. I do mention that I have one book published and another on the way, and that I have fans, but I guess that's not audience enough for agents.
