Wedding Woes

Friend called off her wedding...

My friend is supposed to get married in two weeks....but just told me that her and her fiance broke up and are calling off the wedding. I live too far away from her to go see her...but any suggestions on what I can do to help her and be there for her??

Re: Friend called off her wedding...

  • Call her and see if she needs to talk?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Yeah, justbe available to talk, let her vent. Don't bad mouth her FI, there is always a chance they work things out and get back together, anything bad you say about him would color her views of you. Will you still be seeing her around the date of the wedding?
  • Thanks - I'll have to remember not to do any bad mouthing.

I am not sure if I will get down there to see her or not...another friend of mine and I may take a road trip to see her and help her move her stuff out.
  • I just sent my BFF who is going through a hard time a little Bed and Bath package with some linen spray and candles.  It was $20 with shipping and he really loved it, just b/c it was something nice.  I know sometimes talking doesn't feel like enough, so maybe a small care package?

I agree with this idea (as well as calling her.)  How about sending her a 'housewarming' present for whereever she ends up moving?  If it's back home, maybe send her a spa day gift card? If it's a hotel, maybe send her a flower arrangement for the hotel room and a gift card for a nearby movie theatre or restaurant?  Something you know she will enjoy that will cheer her up and make her feel loved.  Or send her something you made for her - a knitted blanket for her bed, a goofy mix CD?  Something about how you value her and want her to feel a 'hug.'

  • Pirate smiley face cookies would be awesome! That would put a smile on her face for a little while! Probably don't ship to Canada tho... :(
