Re: Breastmilk Jewlery

  • Whyyyyyyyyy? Must every last little thing be immortalized like a religious relic?

  • I thought it was going to look a lot more like this: http://www.thegloss.com/tag/semen-jewelry/

Link is SFW. It's basically a silver necklace that looks like, well, like someone left a present on your clavicle.

you know that somewhere there's a 'reputable' maker of these things who just has a cow and some resin and goes to town.
  • Team Dharma.
  • My friend has a pendant. It's an enameled disc and there is a clear star. Inside of the star is some of her breastmilk. Unless you knew what it was, you'd never guess. It's a lovely piece.
  • To each their own, but I seriously don't understand how/why stuff like this becomes a 'thing'.  Everything, especially related to kids and parenting, does not need to be a 'thing'.

And some people don't want to remember their nursing days.  I have a few friends who said, "I hated every minute of it."  My relationship with the pump was better than my nursing relationship with my kid.   So..yeah.

    Ding ding ding!

Also, I don't have any keepsakes of Bacon. Like, maybe her baptismal certificate? And some pictures. And that's it, because stuff cluttering up my house doesn't prove I love her.

I think I am pretty crunchy, and i thought about this, and I can't get behind it. I'd rather have bean's initial/birthstone as a necklace. But then again, I didn't ask for a mirror while pushing or take my placenta home, so maybe I am a midwife crunchy fail.

I got to wander through a cooking supply store here and pick my MD gift

Yeah, I find this really weird.  I understand that there are vials and vials of the "Virgin Mary's breastmilk" (being a medievalist, I come across this and other dubious relics all the time in research), but while that has a religious aspect (to each their own), saving your own breastmilk doesn't seem to have much purpose.  I would rather have a picture as a memento.  Not necessarily a picture of me breastfeeding, but a picture of that time of my life with my child.
