Shoe Drama with the Mama

Ugh.. HELLO FRUSTRATED FRIDAY!

So I wanted hot pink sparkly shoes for my wedding. I am 5'1 and my fiancee is like 3inch tallers so heels are out of the question. I had my mom buy me these cute sparkly flats but they kill my feet and I tried to strech them out with wearing 3 pairs of socks and it helped a little but i feel like my toe is gonna fall of after a min of wearing them (after month of trying to break them in). So i told her today that I BOUGHT these cute sparkly sequin hot pink converse lookalikes from online and she just flips. she goes no you are not wearing those, dont be a bridezilla, I haven't said anything about your plans but no. Then she compares me to my brothers ex girlfriend and keeps going no you cant your not. THEN she said im not trying to be critical but you are getting all dressed up and then wearing sneakers!. So frustrating. I told her its my wedding and if I want to wear sneakers I will its that or my flip flops. Im not standing for 30mins plus and hour of pictures in shoes that kill for no reason.  I have a ball gown so no one will ever see anyways.  Shes not paying for my wedding and she thinks shes been helping me with my wedding but its really just been me and my fiancee and she just gets mad when I dont include her on things like the cake tasting and stuff. Shes just so frustrating.

That being said I hate the new knot. I hate facebook. Designing a website is just like planning your wedding. Make it your own!!! copy cats.

Re: Shoe Drama with the Mama

  • I would wear the flats if it was physically possible they are cute. but my toes turn white and that scares me. I agree with you we have have never gotten along ever and this is just one of those things she just jumps on me about the first one was when she told me my garter is a slut garter... whatever that means. She fought me when I wanted to cut my train on my dress and when it was finally off she agreed with me that it looked better so im thinking this will be the same. I mean no one sees the shoes unless I lift the dress anyways... this post was just me venting though hahah thanks for your advice
  • I agree that you should find shoes you like and are not going to kill your feet-- but I also agree that sneakers are not very "wedding-like."  But in reality, who is going to really see them, so if you like them and you are paying them then really it is your call.  Will people have their opinions, sure; but at the end of the day will your marriage be valid, absolutely.  Maybe compromise and wear the flats for the ceremony and then change into the sneakers for the reception.  Have you tried wearing the no show foot things (they come in a nylon, not just cotton) that are good with flats so it does not rub on your toes or back of your heels as bad.

  • I'm kind of with your mom...you're going to be wearing what's likely the fanciest dress you'll ever wear and want to pair sneakers with it?  Are there really no other alternatives?

  • Do you have any shoe repair places near you? They may be able to stretch the shoes for you, to make them more comfy. Just a thought. I agree that you need to wear shoes that don't kill your feet. I had to switch my shoes because after months of trying to break them in, I couldn't stand for more than 5 min.
