Bridesmaids' Dress Material?

My wedding dress is strapless, allover lace, and pretty stinkin' formal. I want my bridesmaids in some shade of gray/silver/mercury (floor length), and I'm seeing a lot of gorgeous dresses, but I'm not sure what materials would be appropriate for pairing. It's a winter wedding (January), and the bridal party is formal. Thoughts or suggestions?

    I really love the look of the some of the dupioni gowns they have out right now. It is a heavy enough fabric to keep your girls somewhat warm and it is a luminescent fabric without being "too shiny" like some satins can be. It has great movement and somewhat reminds me of taffeta (without the stiffness and annoying sound when you walk). There are some great options from Dessy in the dupioni and dupioni specifically looks fabulous in the gray.
