Addressing Invites

So while looking at some other boards, which tend to be less aware of etiquette (or tend not to care about it at all sometimes!), I saw that someone had printed addressed on the invite envelope, in nice font and a light grey color, and then gone over them by hand in a black pen or thin ink sharpie.  Would this be okay by etiquette for someone with terrible handwriting? Or is it better to just write them as neat as possible in your own handwriting?

I was just curious and I know you ladies are generally on top of the etiquette info.

-Thanks

(If this is the wrong board, just let me know!  It's etiquette related, but also invite related)

there isn't anything wrong with doing this.  Correct etiquette says you should hand write your envelopes.  But, if you print and then go back over in ink, they are still being handwritten.

Personally, I printed in a pretty font directly on the envelope.  I think it's one of the few victimless etiquette offenses and my handwriting sucks.

  • agree, printing directly on the envelope would look nice if you have poor handwriting ( :
  • I may have a different opinion than etiquette manuals, but I see the outer envelope as for USPS only. Typed is better than misdelivered. These things are read by machines and there isn't a lot of wiggle room.
  • Okay, Thank you ladies. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
