Matching save the date and invitation?

Do you guys think the save the date needs to match the invitation? We found a save the date that we love and an invitation we love, but they are completely different styles! Thoughts?

I don't think they *have* to match, as long as both convey the necessary information to your guests.  The invitation is what really has to have not just the right logistical information (who, what, when, where) but also has to convey the right tone (formal/informal, religious/secular, etc.)

Our's didn't match at all. It's fine and no one even notices or cares. :)

Ours didn't match. We wanted to have more spaces for photos on our save the dates to show off some of our engagement photos, so we went with a different design for the save the date than the invitations.

  • Ours didn't. They just had the same color scheme.

We sent our STDs before we even knew what invitations we were going to use.  Needless to say they didn't match.
