need a longline, very low back bra.

Hi, I'm an August bride who is having dress issues of "what to wear under it?". I, like everyone else at the moment, bought an open back-keyhole dress with capped sleaves. David's told me they could sew a bra in when I ordered it. When I went in for my first fitting, they said they can only sew in up to a size C. I'm a 38D. They had a longline bra for me to try, but it made my dress not fit, and it had to be folded down, making the dress even tighter. Anyone know of a good place to get a bra with enough to support for a 38D, not too bulky, with a very low back? Thanks!!!

  • Either try a department store with a good lingerie department (Macy's, Nordstroms, etc.) or a lingerie store.  A seamstress can alter a longline bra and lower the back so that it doesn't show.  The lingerie store we got DD's bra from did the alterations themselves.

  • You could have the alteration done with a reputabke seamstress in your area. I took my Davids dress to a seamstress who has told me she has to redo Davids alterations all the time because theyve screwed up.

Another option woukd be to get a bra that has no back at all. The cups stick to your chest. As for a longline backless bra im not sure you can find a bra that connects so that it cant be seen but I woukd try victorias secret or other lingerie shops.

Also if its the dress I think your talking about. I tried it on and the cups that were sewn in already made my chest weird. When I mentioned it to the consultant she said that comment was made often by several brides.
  • Yeah, it's probably the one your thinking of. It has this terrible boning in the chest area that seems to make your breasts point up in an unnatural way. I suggested they take them out, but they say it would make the top too flimsy.
  • This is my dress...
  • Yeah I remember that dress. Its very pretty but the cups are weird. I would take the dress to a new seamstress ask for the cups to be removed and replaced with cups that are much more natural and if possibke your size. If you cant get cups in your size id get one of the bras that are completly backless bra (the kind which are the sticky bra cups that stick to your chest)
  • Intimacy is a great store if you can find one near you. They don't have lots of options for what you describe, but they do carry a few. Another site, if you don't mind shipping and returning is http://www.barenecessities.com/?cmp=bpp20.

I've just found that sometimes European brands fit differently than American ones, so the sizes don't just convert easily. I'm in a similar position and hoping that my seamstress can alter my bra so that the back doesn't show. (For what it's worth, the salesperson recommended I go down a band size, up a cup size in the long-line bra and just use the largest fitting.)

I also have a dress from David's Bridal that has the same issue. I am about to go in for my first fitting and am nervous to hear what they have to say. I love the dress and the top is decent on me, but I feel like it could look so much better without all of the weird boning.
