Renting your wedding dress

I was wondering if anyone out there has ever rented a wedding dress? So far everything I am in love with is several thousand dollars - Lazzaro and Vera Wang are my two favorite designers and both happen to be way out of my price range.  I've looked all over the web at more affordable dresses and none of them have caught my eye the way Vera's dresses do.  I've never given much thought to renting my wedding dress and was just wondering if anyone else had done this and could share their experiences with me (good or bad) and if they had a reputable site they rented from?  Thanks in advance!

Re: Renting your wedding dress

  • I don't have any experience renting, but have you considered buying a preowned wedding gown? There are plenty of Lazaro and Very Wang gowns at www.preownedweddingdresses.com that you can get for 50%+ off.

Hopefully someone with renting experience will jump in here, but because the fit of your wedding dress must often be precise, I would worry about renting as you might not be able to make the alterations that you'd like for it to fit perfectly.

Lastly - David's bridal carries a beautiful and affordable Vera Wang line that you might consider. ("White" by Very Wang).

    Good luck!
  • I have considered buying preowned and have been regularly stalking oncewed.com.  I've seen the Vera Wang line at David's and they aren't quite the couture style I'm wanting.

I hadn't thought before about alterations...that's a very good point.  Thanks!

  • not sure where you are located but vows discount bridal salon on watertown ma is known to carry higher end viera and lazaro and huge discounted prices gowns start at like 200 and go up.. and people come from all over the usa to vows to find the dress. they sell sample gowns they get from all over the place. you can even send them pictures and they can try and find the gown for you
