Wedding Website

I am not sure if there is any specific etiquette rule about this or not but any input would be greatly appreciated.

My FI and I made a wedding website. My mom and I were talking about how we could spread the word about it (especially to aunts and uncles) We thought about putting the link on Facebook but not all of my family members or his have Facebook and the ones that do are hardly on.

Then we thought about sending the link via email and that way it would be easier for people to check the website when they wanted since we make sure that all of the information is up to date every week.

Is it inappropriate to send the link via email or share it on Facebook?

List it on STDs...and on wedding shower invitations.  My mom's big mouth has spread the word otherwise apparently...

  • I wouldn't put it on Facebook unless you're inviting all of your facebook friends to your wedding (or set it up so only certain people can view it on your time line).

A lot of people put their website URL on their save the dates. We ended up including "for more information, visit our website at blah blah blah" in one of the inserts in our invite (we didn't do STD)
  • I would share it only with people who are invited. Facebook would only work if you are using the private message feature. Of course, people might find it on their own, but it's rude to actually send it to someone and then not invite them.
  • Don't post it on facebook. It looks like a gift grab.

We listed the link to our website on our save the dates.

Thanks! The reason for not putting it on Facebook makes total sense. Especially since I have people on Facebook who are not going to be invited
  • I put it on STDs and invitation inserts. I also made my own shower thank you notes and put it on the back of the card. Do not post on FB.

  • I put it the wedding website address on STD and then made little business cards that had something like, "For hotel information, directions and other wedding details, check out our website at...."

For the older guests who might not do computers, they were all local and were being brought by younger relatives/guests so everyone was covered.
