Wedding Planner Apps?

FI and I are thinking a January/February 2014 wedding so we need to get moving on the planning pretty quickly (he just proposed on the 7th).

Does anyone have any favorite planning aps?  I want something that includes contact management, budget management and probably a checklist.

Thanks!

Re: Wedding Planner Apps?

  • Honestly, I looked at a couple, but I ended up editing and customizing so much that it wasn't worth it.
I just have a Google drive excel file that I keep everything in. I've got tabs for budget, for potential and selected vendors, for random ideas, and a checklist timeline. It works wonders, and it looks exactly how I want it to look. I copied TK's checklist and just edited it up.

Thanks! I had a feeling that would be the case (especially since I am particular about things). I have so many ideas spinning in my head that I need to start getting them organized before I lose my mind.  I thought an app might help, but nothing immediately jumped out to me.

My sister, Mom and friends have already started sending me ideas (luckily they all suite my tastes for the most part)...  FI and I are going to talk budget this week and then start planning when we get back from a family wedding this weekend.

  • @AprilH81 I found it helped a lot to have a tentative guest list and to do a few venue visits before we solidified our budget (we only went to one venue that was WAY out of our price range, and that was mainly because they weren't upfront about their minimum required bill)

    Have fun planning! :)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • I find that it's helpful to save every little tiny thing I think "Oh, this is cute!" and then I'll go back through my list of ideas/pictures periodically to delete some ideas. When I make my pass through, I try to think logistics and budget.

Good luck with planning! Don't be afraid to say no to the ideas you don't like.

We have a tentative list of 75, but thanks for the reminder that we should revisit this topic before we get too deep into planning.  :)

Are you happy with it so far?  What are the drawbacks in your opinion?

Yep, it works for my needs and provides a good, solid date for when things need to be done. I don't think it has any drawbacks, but I'm also not using it for like... the guestlist. I have a spreadsheet for that.
