Valentine's Day

What is everyone's plans?!  Do you get your honey a gift?

I'll share first: We have gift cards to the Cheesecake Factory so we are trying to find a time that we can go. FI works all day on Sunday and Saturday night is going to be really busy I have a feeling.

I bought big cookie cutters at Target a few weeks ago in the shape of "I <3 U".  I made and decorated sugar cookies for DF.  With the upcoming wedding/house buying I've requested not spending a lot of money on gifts.  I think he should tell me/show me he loves me every day Wink

very cute! We're going to his aunt's 90th birthday party on Saturday. lol- so romantic. We're making a nice dinner on Sunday and dressing up and going "out" to our dining room. lol. We said we wouldn't buy anything for each other... although a package came the other day- so I think he strayed. lol. Oh- our dating anniversary is the 22nd, so we might go out then.

Nothing.  We may go out to eat for seafood, but I don't know.  It all depends on what goes down tomorrow at work and how that will affect our budget.

We're driving to Pittsburgh to do some wedding stuff.  We're getting him wedding band (hopefully) and finishing registering.  Then Saturday night we're eating at Le Mont (my treat) then staying in a hotel (his treat).  That's about it!

We never do anything for V-day. I don't see this year being any different considering my crutched up state.

Hey Meg- just an opin- but I would think about going somewhere else on V-day. We had Sonya's b-day party at cheesecake factory, and they don't take reservations (although they might on v-day, maybe call) and we had to wait for over an hour- and that was just a regular non-holiday day.

Friday night we are doing our annual big Valentine's Day dinner :)  This year we are going to Moto, and I CAN'T WAIT.  Sunday morning we're registering at Macy's.  Sunday evening we're going to a drinks-and-dancing event at the modern art museum here.

I have not yet bought FI a present, but I need to!  Since we are doing two big "experiences" this weekend, we're just exchanging little presents, but I always like having something to unwrap :)

Marbus- I don't really want to go this weekend at all. I hate that they don't take reservations!  The only reason we were thinking about going was bc it was "free" with gift cards.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't believe in all of the "hype" of Valentine's Day!

DH and I are just eh on Valentine's Day. We usually don't do gifts or anything like that.

Every year, we watch Casablanca, its our V-Day movie.

I just found out the Vienna Philharmonic Symphony is playing at Education City this Sunday, so I plan on picking up tickets for that.

I'm not a big fan of V-Day and we usually do something low key....my fave so far was the year we went to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings (nearly empty) and then went to the store and bought 12 different beers to take home and drink :)

This year we're doing chocolate fondue then champagne in the hot tub. We've gone back and forth on the gift thing but I don't think we're going to exchange anything.

We usually don't do anything for Valentine's Day either.  This year we're going to Vegas in March for a basketball tournament and said that would be how we celebrated V-day.  It actually works out better b/c "cupid" hit us with his arrows in March, not February :-)  But I think I'm going to cheat and buy him a red Zags shirt so he has some team apparel to wear!

We're not big V day people either. It's my dad's 50th Birthday sunday so we're celebrating that in the afternoon. We have reservations at The Willow on Sunday night though. We're not doing any presents, I'll just get him a cute card and something cheesy, like a package of reese's peanut butter cup hearts :)

We're in the middle of a remodel on the bottom floor of our house, so all of our money is going to that right now!

Kat, my dad's birthday is on Valentine's Day too!  I always thought it was kind of a sucky deal for my mom, haha.

DH made a reservation for dinner somewhere on Saturday night to avoid Sunday crowds/fixed menus.  We've done fondue for a few V-days...always fun!  Maybe we will do that Sunday!  We aren't exchanging gifts though.

Not exactly sure of our plans yet- we never do anything real big, and if we exchange gifts, it's always something little (I get DH Reese's b/c he loves them. Last year he got me a potted hyacinth-sp?- instead of cut flowers). This year we may go out to dinner (no where fancy) and to see "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." I know, real romantic, huh? But it's a movie we both want to see. I might also make him a card.

We rarely do anything on V-Day (he's rarely home, it seems), and this year is no different.  He's been activated with all the other National Guard members due to the Snowpocalypse, so we have no clue when he'll be home.

We are planning on going to Capital Grille in honor of my birthday, which he wasn't home for either on Tuesday!  So I suppose it'll be a combination celebration of my b-day and V-Day!

We don't do valentines day.  When FI and I first started dating almost 9 years ago (freshman year of HS) he told me that he "didn't do" valentines day or anything else that card companies came up with.  I went along with it, and I still do. I figure, it saves me a few bucks, too!
