What shoes to wear for the big day?

Alright.. so the time has come for me to buy my shoes for the big day. Ideally, I would like a pair with a heel that I will actually want to wear ALL DAY. That's probably asking a lot but I know it is possible. Any suggestions on brands and where to buy them? I was considering purchasing a pair of professional dance shoes, but I am just not sure. If you have tried dance shoes let me know if they did the trick! I am open to all options. I don't want to spend a ton on the pair, but I will for all day comfort.

I wore my Nina heels pretty much the whole day-- I changed to my flip flops for the last hour just because they were cute. I could have kept my heels on all night though.

As a dancer, yes dance shoes are "comfy," but you will most likely not get use out of them again.  But if its your style, go for it.

I was all about finding awesome purple heels (which I will use again).

edit: $59 on sale at Macy's (typically $60-$79). The are the Nina Forbes... I also love the Nina Electra too!

  • I bought a pair from DSW by Audrey Brooke.  I then bought a pair of wedged platform flip flops from Victorias Secret.  I wore my pretty DSW pair for all of an hour and then immediately switched into my flip flops.

Honestly if your dress is long I would go with comfort over style.  I wish I had just worn my $15 pair of flip flops from VS all day because you only saw my pretty shoes once and that was when I picked my dress up for a photo op with the photographer.

Whatever you decide, make sure to have a back-up pair of comfy shoes just in case.

Unless you normally wear heels, it is really not necessary to wear them. Though if you insist, wedges or platforms will likely be most comfortable for long wear.

FWIW, I wore a pair of dressy flats from Kate Spade and it worked out well. The shoes felt "fancy" and "bridal" but were super comfortable!

  • Invest in some inserts for your shoes. They can make some comfy heels feel even better. I have a fiance that is the same height so I got some pretty white sandals. At the end of the day just make diet they're comfy because who wants to think about sore feet on your wedding night.
  • The one regret I had about wedding purchases were my wedding shoes. I opted for pretty satin wedding style that I will never wear again. I regreat spending almost $80.00 on a pair of shoes for one day, and they can't be dyed to be worn for a different occasion either. Go with something you like, that you can walk comfortably in and that you are likely to wear again.
